There are a lot of things you don't see because you don't know where to look
There is little to no warning for those who are unaware. Right now there are warning bells all over the place. Nevermind with the subtle statistics but just look at when the boom started, 9/01 and what world events correlated with it. Next look at how we have spent [at first with promises of reimbursement] in Iraq and Afghanistan. The full accounting there is not disclosed and never will be. If things are so rosy why has nearly every major airline gone bankrupt? Why are Ford and GM teetering on bankruptcy in "boom times". Need more proof? Just keep reading the front page.
Americans have become complacent because we feel 'comfortable' and assured. How it all plays out is anyone's guess but I strongly feel the better times are behind most of us. I say most because there are some super rich who are only getting richer. In the next decline they will scoop up assets for pennies on the dollar and become even wealthier. To people who know their economic history all this is no surprise as it's happened more than once in the past 200 years in the US.
As for coins? Prices will get softer just because weak and under capitalized dealers will be forced out. Less buyers/sellers means a tighter market for most material. But for those who play in narrow markets like finest 1793-1834 PCGS coins with original surfaces they will continue tosurvive. People who buy coins like this are not going to be stopped from adding to their collections.
