Any '95 Ultra collectors out there? (FB)

I cracked open a box last night, hoping to get a Rod Smith that would grade an 8 or a 9. Sadly, both Smiths are 8's at best as they were the bottom card in the pack. I did pull a lot of nice cards though, including 2 Terrell Davis rookies that are candidates for a 10. Let me know if you're interested in anything from this set.

When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

  • Hi andy. All those late 90's Ultra carda are tough. The UV coating makes them stick together, and pieces of one card will peel off onto another when separating them. Someone once suggested to put them in a freezer or fridge so that they "cool off" and separate on their own. Never did this but might be worth a try.

what has always seem to work for me is a little slight crack of the deck before spilting the cards. Not enough to crease them just enough to loosen them up.

Are there any other defining rookies (best ones available of a possible HOF'er) in this set besides Rod Smith?

If you (or anyone else reading this thread) has a Rod Smith worthy or a 9 or, even better, a 10, I'd be interested.

Don't even get me started on that one. It should have been mine in the first place!!!

You should have been more polite and cordial to that seller..Just because he didn't ship your card for 2 weeks, thats no reason for you to e-mail and ask him why!!

    James,

I have some of the cards you're looking for. I'll get a list to you in a day or 2.

I found 2 Marinos and zero Emmitts.

  • I have a Rod Smith 10! The freezer tip does work. I used it with success on the 1994 Playoff Football wax. If you think the Ultra sticks, you should see the Playoff. Interestingly, I thought of this on my own and when I told Mr. Hart at bbcexchange, he acted like it was common knowledge. Taking it a step further, if after leaving the cards in the freezer they still wont seperate, you can use a clothes steamer or tea kettle steam to seperate the ice cold cards. They literally fall apart from each other when the steam hits them after being in a freezer.

Anyone want the Rod Smith PSA 10, I will trade it for a 1972 Roger Staubach #200 PSA 9. LOL

Time to buy a separate freezer. I have a LOT of this product to unstick.image

Well Frank, I'll put my request in now for a Rod Smith 10 candidiate or 2. You should be getting to those cards sometime in the next year or so right? image

    James,

I have 9 cards on your list, including a few dupes:

    #365-Deion Sanders (3)
    #366-Wade Wilson (2)
    #378-Randy Jordan (2)
    #393-Derrick Fenner
    #429-Sherman Williams
    #480-Jeff Blake ES (2)
    #483-Troy Aikman ES
    #484-Michael Irvin ES
    #542-Carlester Crumpler EE

I also got some hot pack all rookie thing. Apparently they're fairly rare, but I know nothing about them.

    PM sent--thanks!

As for the "All-Rookie Hot Packs"--they were a parallel version of the "All-Rookie Team" insert set. They apparently came as complete set inserts at a rate of one in 360 packs.

I'm not sure what the marketplace would show regarding past sells of the hot pack cards, but I don't think they would be worth much more than the regular all-rookie cards. Sorry I can't be of more help on those.
