I'm definately a hoarder. But not "to generate higher monetary value". Its just part of my OCD.

... or maybe for research.

If a dealer has orders for 500 of a certain type of coin - say.... Bust Halves and buys nearly every single AU example out there creating a perceived shortage and driving up prices, who is the actual hoarder? The dealer or collector who placed the order?
If the orders get cancelled prior to the 500 being turned over to the collector, can the dealer then name this hoard and realzie even more $$?
Some are organized. Others just use a 5 Gallon Water bottle. Others just toss change into a bowl. Nobody knows why people HOARD change, but no matter if it's in rolls, shoe boxes, jars or trunks.... It's hoarding and those who do it are HOARDERS. Intentional or not, if you do that, You are a HOARDER. The intent might be lunch money, a new car, fill it up to make a deposit later, shopping, or even the laundromat, but you are what you are. If you've got a bunch of loose change , chances are you are a hoarder. If you've got a bunch of loose screws, chances are you are a numismatist. Take heart, you are in good company

That fits me except for the "corner the market" bit. I collect, er hoard, national bank notes from my and my wife's hometowns. I have 14 from mine out of a known 41 and 83 out of 145 from my wife's with 4 more coming in the next few days. What am I going to do with all of them? I have no idea except make this problem my daughter's when I croak. Maybe I will just have all the notes buried/burned with me.
Well, there seemed to be a lot of interest in this word, I confess, I have thousands of those damned nickels with that big animal on it. Now, if I ever wanted to play a pinball machine......... oh poop, they cost more than a nickel these days don't they?
"If I had a nickel for every nickel I ever had, I'd have all my nickels back".
