    Are you collecting a 9 & 10 set only?

Yes Ryan, here is the link to my complete PSA registry set:

edit: P.S. Upgrading my set has become a pretty difficult task over this past year, as these cards have really "dried-up". I think I was able to upgrade only two cards this past year?
  • Nice Cards! I've also noticed there haven't been as many up this year. They use to be fairly easy to come across. I sold off all of my PSA 10's thinking I could rebuild it at my leasure... but now I'm finding it hard to just finish it off in 9's.

I still need eight cards (#'s 101, 116, 118, 148, 171, 172, 174, 179) in PSA 9's or higher. If anyone has any of these available, please let me know ... I'll have Lillo send you a reward or something. image

  • I've got most these Mike.
    We'll have to figure out a "fair"deal.

Maybe a little side bet on this weekends fantasy match up?
Or are you too smart for that? image

I mean, you must know I'm going to beat you into the dirt, right?

    LOL! Jeremy

Hey Jeremy, I've got a shiny new 1993 SP Mark Brunell PSA 10 for trade. It should double in value after this weekend when the Skins beat up on the Cowboys, and you're left choking in my dust from the fantasy beating your little team of misfits will get from my powerhouse franchise!

Actually, I've got #'s 101, 116, 118, 131, 171, 171, 179 at PSA right now waiting to be graded (logged in 8/9). If I remember correctly, they were kind of tweeners, but I should probably wait to see what happens with them first. However, if you have a #101, 148, 172, or 174 shoot me an e-mail with your prices and we'll figure something out.

Good luck this weekend .... you're going to need it! image

    Wow!

It seems that offerings for any 1961 Nu-Card Football PSA 10 examples have completely "dried-up". It has been a while since any PSA 10s been offered for sale on "fee-bay".

    rd,

I found a few more I needed, so I'm down to only four left to complete the set in PSA 9's: #101, 118, 172, 174

Honestly, on the PSA 10's, I think it might have more to do with PSA just not handing out as many 10's on 1960's cards lately. There seemed to be a small "window of opportunity" last year, when vintage 10's were popping up more often than usual.

I don't know if it was a specific grader or an organized lowering of standards or what ... but I know I was having more luck back then than I've had recently. It might just be me, but it sure feels like they've tightened back up on certain issues lately.

I don't see any difference at all in the 10's I got back then... and about 75% of the 9's I have now.

Mike, good luck in finding those last 4 cards!

I feel just the opposite about 1961 Nu-card Football. Many of the current PSA 9s, were just plain undergraded and could/should be PSA 10s! If a grader "stepped-up to the plate" last year and assigned PSA 10s, and not PSA 9s to a batch of these cards, ...good for him! As I agree that many of the PSA graded 9s in this series are just "killer-beautiful" and could easily be graded a PSA 10!

But so be it, ...as PSA does not readily hand out too many PSA 10s to vintage 1961 material, as witnessed below:

    1961 Nu-Card Football: 5.55% (140 PSA 10s out of a total of 2,519 graded)
    1961 Fleer Football: 1.84% (156 PSA 10s out of a total of 8,492 graded)
1961 Topps Football: 0.08% (only 11 PSA 10s out of 13,556 graded cards!)
    1961 Nu-Card Scoops Baseball: 1.74% (51 PSA 10s out of a total of 3,159 graded)
    1961 Fleer Baseball: 0.61% (47 PSA 10s out of a total of 7,636 graded)
    1961 Topps Baseball: 1.97% (248 PSA 10s out of a total of 12,595 graded)
    1961 Fleer Basketball: 0.38% (53 PSA 10s out of 14,038 graded)
1961 Topps Hockey: NO TENS! (No PSA 10s out of 2,323 graded cards!)
1961 Parkhurst Hockey: 0.15% (only 3 PSA 10s out of 1,894 graded parkies!)

1961 Topps Sports Cars: 0.38% (only 2 PSA 10s out of 529 graded!) (...the cars may be pics of cool sports cars, but the cards are for "good sports"!) image

It has been difficult, if not, "next to impossible", to say the least, ...trying to upgrade a few more cards from PSA 9 to PSA 10.

I was for fortunate to pick up these two cards from M.O.S.H., who retired his #3 set. Rick Snyder at Mint State negotiated a deal for me with M.O.S.H. that allowed me to trade my two PSA 9s + cash, for M.O.S.H.'s two PSA 10!

    Thanks Rick & M.O.S.H.! image
