Regrade or Reholder Question....

I am putting together a 57 topps basketball set and i have one card, a #62 Harry Galatin PSA 6 that is far and away superior to any of the other graded PSA 6 cards i have of this year. Should I just send it in to PSA in the holder or crack it out and resend? Anyone done this before?....maybe this relates to the thread on asking for minimum grades....I will scan in the card and let you guys give me an opinion. 3 Corners are sharp. Very minor corner softness on bottom right. image

    I'd crack it out.

  • Is that a small indentation under the word "Pistons" into the white boarder? That might have brought it down. That is one of the nicest 6's I've ever seen......
  • The Red part of the box that the word pistons is in does very slightly touch out onto the border. But i am looking at 20 other 57's and many of them do the same thing. There is a small amount of "Fuzz" middle right border, by his hand, and by his shorts in the dark areas. But it is so common on this issue that i dont even look at it hardly as a detraction. I seriously think this card could be an 8. Could that "surface ink flaking" take this card from an 8 to a 6?

Crack and re-submit that card. Gallatin is a very very tough card to get in PSA 7 or better. The difference in the price between a 6 and a 7 in this particular card is big.

    Definitely crack.

  • I didnt mean the ink flashing, that should be fine. It looks like an imprint line that goes into the white boarder. Could be the scan, but if you look closely at the one you provided here, it looks like a small indentation line under the red box going into the boarder. If there is no "line" there, it definately looks like an 8 or at least a 7..
  • OK then.....What is the best way to "crack" a card without damaging it.....Any hints or techniques?

dremel or clip the corners, then pry slowly down each side with a small screwdriver, starting at the top.
