It took me all of 4 seconds to do this on Photoshop. I'll probably have to spend 2 more minutes to cut out the background, but how exactly are you spending 15 hours to create that image?
Here's my poor rendition of your original image in Photoshop. It took me about 10 seconds to find the right effect. I think I can sharpen the image, but it looks pretty close to yours.
I've built all of the colors in layers in Adobe Illustrator, I'm aware of the filter you used to create yours., I just thought it would be cool to make something that looks alot cleaner.
Not to insult you or anything but anyone can do the filter you used and not everyone can create the effect I did.
When I would send TTM autos I would find 2 pics of the player and photoshop them to sketch and use an ink cartridge that was low and then sketch over in pencil. It only took like 5 mins, but it looked like freehand and I always got really fast responses and sometimes comments on my sketches haha. I figured when looking at a pile of mail those envelopes with the sketches would really stand out and get attention.

I'm not insulted at all. I'm just puzzled how it took you 15 hours to create something that looks like it can be made in a minute or two with today's imaging software.
I have the same reaction. I've been a PhotoShop user for 12 years and it really is a non-brainer. It would take more than one filter and some time finding the right effect and adjustments, but we are still talking about minutes if you are an experienced user. The only way you would user Illustrator (instead of a high-end image processor) if you really wanted to waste time and not aware of what image processing software can do?
He's talking Canadian hours! It's totally different up there ... ya know.
Nice job Ryan >>
LOL!
baggypants, It looks nice. I don't know why some people feel the need to be a turd about things like this. You can spend 3 days on a photo if you want to, geesh!

Thanks Tonya!
The thing is I could I could use a filter and and create someting that looks similar to what Bighurt did but as you can see it is no comparison. I created the whole thing using the pen tool and over 300 layers of different color to get the final effect. It's something I'm proud of and will always stand behind my work, my purpose was to have my drawing look as close to the photo as possible without using filters etc.

I don't think I'm being too negative. Just not that impressed that you spent 15 hours to recreate an image. There is a difference.
Some people posted they liked you picture. Some people wondered aloud what the big deal was. People have different opinions and that's what happens when you post on a public forum.
From someone who works with Photoshop every day I respect what you did there.. nice job. Now how about doing an image from a better sport like hockey..
