Has ANYONE had any luck with upgrade submissions to PCGS?

Not "shot in the dark" stuff, but really nice "on the fence" coins?

I now that for a while it seemed that everything was just coming back as submitted no matter what.

Do you mean recently or ever? I have had good luck in the past, but have not tried anything recently.

On a resubmission, If you want them to actually look

at the coins befor they reholder them, you got to send

the coins in, with a 100 dollar bill wrapped around the slab.

I haven't sent in anything big recently, but over the years I've had more than my share of upgrades. I've sent in quite a few lower priced coins recently as crackouts, and at least one always seems to upgrade in each submission batch.
    When in doubt, don't.

I've had numerous upgrades. Of course, most of them were cracked out and submitted raw.

Yep..and it's still a 64. But I'm not done. I'll wait another 6 months and give it another go. Sometimes, IF the coin really is deserving, it takes a few tries. Sometimes, if it's really rare, you just can't beat the odds.

I have had 4 MAJOR upgrades in the last 3 years. I can say that I'm way ahead, even though I've had nada in 2 years.

I submitted my 1942 D/D jefferson for regrade in its holder before I sold it, and it came back a 64. I have heard that it now lives in a well deserved 65 holder. I think it was cracked out because the 64 is still in the pop report.

It is the coin pictured to the left. It was my favorite Jefferson.

Were they from crackouts or standard re-grades?

    in the holder.

I realized there were FOUR upgrades. TWO were coins that I bought in one auction and both were in old holders. The other TWO were when I had my complete set regraded about 2 1/2 years ago. That's the best shot...regradeing an entire set...IF you have the grades to help coins on the fence.

It's all about the coin, not the age of the holder.

I send my own stuff, and stuff my friends ask me to send in.

This year my own stuff: 8 out of 9 upgrades -- 3 were 2 points.

My friends' coins: 0 for 14. I tell them not to waste their money. On certain coins they listen, yet they don't listen on others.

    ...it's all about the coin.
  • did you crack them out or send them in the original holders?
