This Pujols guy is a pretty good baseball player!

Another game winning hit tonight. The MVP vote is going to be close between him and Howard.

He doesn't suck. I think he's going to make it.

Don't ask me why Gar decided to let Lidge pitch to him...

Despite the homer in the playoffs, Pujols was only 1-for-10 (.100/.167/.100) against him in the regular season.
On the other hand, Pujols is 5-for-10 (.500/.583/.600 for an OPS of 1.183) against Dan Wheeler, whom Lidge replaced.

Well there's obviously some holes in his game if the Royals passed on him, as he is from KC.

And if there is any constant in life, it is that the Royals have been immaculate in spotting talent and signing the right players. image

Doesn't matter what he was hitting. With 2 out and a base open, you walk one of the most dangerous men in baseball.

The fact that they even pitched to him is ridiculis, bad move by the 'stros skip. Lidge especially

FrankHardy - you have now qualified yourself as a master of the obvious. Master of masters is next.

Personally, I'd vote for Puljos if I had the choice between him & Howard if only because aside from his fantastic stats, he'd should have already won at least one, maybe two MVPs if it weren't for 'Roid Boy Barry.

Pujols has had a nice year, but I'd put him third on the MVP ballot behind Howard at first, and Delgado at 2.

Howard has single-handedly carried that team into playoff contention, even after management wrote the team off by dumping Abreu's silly contract on the yankees. Delgado is the unheralded player on that mets team (beltran and wright get all the glory). Take delgado off, and that team would surely not do as well.

    Axtell,

Take a look at how many categories that Pujols leads the Cardinals in, and compare them to the others you mentioned. I think you will see it differently. Without Pujols, the Cardinals would be in 4th place in the Central behind the Reds, Astros, and Brewers.

  • Howard and Pujols are both truly deserving. Howard probably gets the nod for his 2nd half of the season. He's being treated with almost Barry Bonds-like respect, getting IWs left and right and still is able to be patient and truly carrying his very medicore team on his back. His 2nd half numbers of .374/.510/.837 are just ridiculous.

The Cardinals would be in 4th place without Pujols? You sure about that? Where would the phillies be without Howard?

If we have learned nothing else from Axtells wisdom it is that the ONLY player that would directly affect his teams wins and losses it is Arod. Every other team would be just about where they are if their best players is taken away. C'mon guys, get with it, Ax has spelled it out, its our jobs to read it image

How did the Cards do when Pujols was injured? What was their record?
