Yep, it is the 3x then 7 days as said. They WILL NOT leave it at your door, even if you beg them. They will not let a neighbor sign. I have to drive to the Fedex office and pick up each of my shipments from the mint. I think I'll try to remember to request USPS next time. They'll leave registered mail in your box if you sign for it. I don't guess I'll try to call the mint and change my AGE/ASE orders. Every time you open an order up you take a chance of screwing it up. All of mine have moved to "in process". --Jerry
This is why I gave them my work address as my shipping address when the US Mint upped my delivery method to Fed Ex. That way someone is always there to sign for it during busines hours. The FedEx pick up location is on the other side of the city from me, so pick up is not really the best option.

I have been a collector for over mumbly-five years. I learn something new every day.
With these High Value Sets I would think that The Mint would have some kind of insurance on them...I can not visualize them sending them out without it!
This makes me nervous...as I will be out of town around the date of delivery.
Yes, Fed Ex will allow a neighbor to sign. It will depend on the driver and neighborhood. If My Fed Ex driver won't leave the package unless the sender has signed allowing it (there's a spot on the form). I did provide them with a signature card allowing them to leave a package for me. The Fed Ex location isn't far from me, so I can drive there and pick up with ease.
I have a friend that works for FedEx and she says that you can call them and request an address change after the 1st deliverery attempt or you can authorize your neighbor to sign. I recommend using your place of emplyement as the shipping address, that way someone will be there to sign. My fedex pick-up place is 35 miles away so for me a pick up is not an option.
Pretty amazing how you all have no problems with fed ex leaving packages at the door. I have watched several different fed ex delivery people leave boxes worth tens of thousands of dollars OUTSIDE my front door while I was looking out the window!
While I loved being able to track packages more accurately with fed ex ( for years ) I could no longer justify the very real possibility of fed ex leaving a box containing what I consider a lot of money on someones front door and then having the insurance company deny the claim for "mysterious disappearance".
Barb Wingo suggested Express Mail and Express Mail it is.
There is too much flexibility with each driver. If the shipper does not state how he wants the package delivered..meaning adult signature or not, he is on his own. These routes are owned by the driver. UPS has a stronger grip on their drivers and in my opinion, are more professional.
I'm not a vigilante, I'm an undocumented border patrol agent!

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I'm assuming this question relates to the mint shipments via Fedex, otherwise, it appears to be OT. The mints requires a signature from someone live and breathing AT the house on the address AT the time of delivery. I've tried signing it and leaving it on the door, no way. I've tried to get them to deliver to a neighbor. No way. I end up having to go get it.
And yes, I've signed the Forms releasing them to leave packages at my door. I'm the opposite of some of you complaining about packages left at the door in that I WANT them to leave them.
As a Fedex courier, and ex-manager, it is three attempts and then seven days at the station. If your Fedex courier is leaving it at your door, even with your ok, they are committing a serious error that could get them into serious trouble, and may even get terminated for it. US Mint packages have a release restriction built into the bar code that prohibits them leaving the package, unless they manually enter the tracking number to bypass the restriction. This option is completely up to the shipper, and they actually pay extra for the signature. US Mint packages require a signature, no questions asked. I would never leave such a package. My career, my reputation, and not to mention my livelihood, are worth much more to me than any package from the mint.

I don't insure fedex anymore to homes or home offices. Only express mail now.

Fedex leaves packages at my door, even though I refuse to sign their form allowing it.
USPS is much more secure, in my opinion.

Nope. it actually depends on directions from the shipper. If the shipper allows it then fedex will. --Jerry
