It's pretty sad... who would have ever thought how much of an impact Placido Polanco's absence would have on the team.

I still think they'll pull it off and wind up with the wild card, but they sure don't look like they're going to last long in the playoffs if they get in.

Cutting Dmitri Young was a move that came way too late... he should have never been allowed to come back to the team - he killed a lot of the team spirit according to the local media.

The deadline deals have been far more negative than positive - as Casey has been a total bust, and Neifi Perez is just flat-out terrible.

Nice of Ordonez and Granderson and a couple others to just completely forget how to hit for the past 6 weeks or so. It's not like it's the pitching is hanging us out a lot during this stretch, they just can't score runs.
  • I am Suprised by the tigers as of late. They have all the tools, just can't get it done. They didn't look overly bad this weekend, just couldn't play small ball. I am happy to see the tigers go down being a Twins fan and all.

Maybe the Tigers "caught something" when they played the Red Sox. They had better get rid of it, for it is fatal.
  • Honestly, if the Tigers don't win another game this year, I still think this season has been an unbelievable success for them. I'm not about to criticize them now.
  • It seems to me like that balance the Tigers had early on where a different player would step up on a given
day isn't there right now. Shelton helped a lot early on as did Thames, Ordonez, Guillen and as the season progressed Monroe picked it up and delivered several times in the clutch. Granderson was hot for a while and had his average up around .290 but then slid back a bit. No doubt Polanco has been very consistent this year and we do miss him. I really thought we could keep it going, but I suppose maybe things were going too good. We never had any real downturns until now. It will be interesting to see how this finishes out. Either way things have drastically improved after many tough years. Go Tigers!
