ebay results for modern coins

I put some common coins on ebay to try and get a feel for things. Here are a couple of the results. I charge $1.75 for shipping.
This coin brought $1.30:

This coin brought $3.34

This coin brought $7.16

This is certainly not conclusive by any means but interesting anyway.

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

According to the PCGS price guide:
2002-D Ohio lists at $15
1985-S Roosie lists at $25
1985-S Washington $25
And that's the PCGS Retail price guide.
These common coins are readily available cheaply and shouldn't be in a PCGS slab anyway.
Folks are just buying the coin and not the holder.
<< <i>I understand there is money in moderns, but I'd imagine one needs to have a great eye for the 70s. >>
You don't need 70's but it's hard to get even the slabbing cost for coins that
are fairly common in higher grade. The Ohio quarter comes pretty nice and
while MS-66's aren't common there are enough higher grades that they don't
command large premiums. You have to remember the market for these isn't
as large as for something like a nice VG '21-S buffalo so you just won't get
the price. The proofs have a better demand but PR-70's of these aren't that
tough so the 69's aren't going to bring a lot.
This being said these prices do seem more than a little on the low side. Per-
haps there were other problems that interfered with full price being realized?
I have about 50 such auctions stored in Turbo lister just for that reason.
I dunno - if you take an $8 1985 proof set and spend $70 in PCGS fee's don't you still have $8 in coins?

No. Not if you buy the coins rather than the plastic. There are not only scarce varieties
to be found in modern sets there are also some scarce grades. Just because a 5pc set
costs $8 doesn't make each coin worth $1.60. Some are culls and are worth only face
value and some can be worth many thousands of dollars. A 1975 dime with no mint mark,
for example, can be worth northwards of $50,000.
Among those who don't collect coins our actions can be nearly inexplicable.
