    Cant wait for tonight !

I honestly dont think the league should have scheduled these two teams week one. There is enough hype without having to add the Manning vs. Manning gimmick. It has taken alot away from the rest of the players with all the attention on the 2 brothers.

Either way, I think the Giants can take em tonight.

Not a Giants fan by any stretch but you guys got an exiting team, Eli is one of the games bright young up and comers. Tiki Barber and Burress will make some big plays for you guys. Oh and Shockey is not that bad either image

Your Giants should make some noise this year....Good luck.

I agree that it should not have been week 1. Like you said it is a gimmick.

I usually can't get into football until the Yankees are out of the post season, hopefully this year it wouldn't be until late October.

The refs just handed the game to Indy.

    Phantom offensive pass interference call.

Without a doubt the worst call I have ever seen. The more I watch football the more I am convinced the officials are on the take.

ahhhhh $HIT. The Giants were HORRIBLE as far as fundamentals go. The same old story with them as flag after flag rained down. The pass interference call was BAD but the Giants played liked a team destined to lose.

The fact remains that in the NFL, with 22 men on the field at one time, all between 250-300lbs there can be and is an infraction on EVERY play. In the end it comes down to when and what the officials feel like noticing and calling at that moment. The first half was sloppy for both teams ( as can be expected in week one ) but the officials chose to penalize the Giants every time they were in the midst of a big play.

One thing is for certain. I appreciate the work MLB umpires do. If they made 1 tenth of the mistakes the NFL officials do there would be a call for lynchings.

If Shockey had gotten out of bounds on the play before they wouldnt have had to rush that spike.

AND, if the ref hadnt decided he was more important than the teams on the field the Giants wouldnt have been in that position to begin with.

I hear ya Bri, but the Giants were plagued in ALL four quaters with the same bull$hit as last year. Great dynamic names on O and they can't function together. As usual it is the Tiki Barber show.

On the bright side, Jacobs looked really good tonight and the Cowboys lost. So, its off to Philly to give those ba$tards a dose of reality next week and we are tied for first.image

Its the Tiki show because Eli still doesnt have a clue half the time. No reason Shockey didnt get the ball the first half. Eli has a long way to go as far as reading the defense and spreading the ball out.

Jacobs did look great tonight, but Im not sure if that was a product of his or the teams doing, or the fact that the Colts have ZERO rush defense.

Entertaining game. I expected the Colts to win so the result is no surprise. Giants will as usual be a good opponent for the Eagles. Will be a real good game Sunday at the Linc. Giants will be tough not wanting to go 0 - 2.

Good game. Both teams showed their sloppiness, but that's to be expected in week one.

I was not at all impressed with the Colts and don't see any deep playoff push for them this year.

Now that the game is over, I expect not to have to sit through another Manning family commercial. Especially a marathon's worth.

Wow, Eli has a LOT of work to do to catch up to Peyton. They had a minute left to make a reasonable shot at winning that game and the Giants f'd it up so bad that the game didn't even end with a shot at the endzone (which it should have). Eli didn't even give the Giants a chance to win. Tiki is the man though. He's the only bright spot on that team.

If the Colts were in the same situation, Peyton would have at least ended the game with a shot.
  • stevekstevek Posts: 29,022 ✭✭✭✭✭
Yea, but it's easy to see Eli's talent which he will improve on with maturity as most all NFL quarterbacks do. He's going to windup being an excellent quarterback in the NFL for a number of years.
  • I think the angle the ref had combined with Nick Harper falling down made it look like a push off. Tough break for the Giants. I can't understand why they didn't just run the entire game. Averaging 7 yards per carry, the only way they were going to stop themselves was to put it in the air.
  • joestalinjoestalin Posts: 12,473 ✭✭
OK, I agree you could throw the flag on every play, but the calls in question were ticky tack! These wern't even close. I saw some
obvious holding in the Jags/Cowboys call that wasn't even called...I mean, even the announcers wanted to say something. Its
    just out of control.

  • Yep, I thought the refs handed the Colts the game. Even earlier with the Plaxico call of clipping was total BS. The G-men ran all over the colts and should have just kept it on the ground and wore them down.

He's still showing a tendency to make horrible 4th quarter decisions. That interception was unbelieveable.

  • I think a lot of interceptions Eli throws are Plaxico's fault for not running the right route, or giving up on a route or going out when he should cut in. If you look at most of Eli's Int's you will see that the majority of them come in a pass to Plex.

The majority may not be on a pass to Plax if Eli would learn how to look all over the field at his other receivers. He falls into a bad habit of relying on the same one or two guys. That offense has weapons and Eli needs to start utilizing them.

In the Colts game I dont think Shockey had a ball thrown his way until late in the 3rd quarter. I may be wrong, but I dont think so. There was a point where I actually began to think he had been taken out of the game due to an injury that I missed while away from the TV.

    Dan,

I am amazed how unmotivated they seemed for most of that game. You would think after the first half they would have come out like gangbusters in the second, but they were flat then too. They really need some veterans to step up and show some emotion earlier in the game.

I dont expect much from them this year after that showing. Maybe they will surprise us and get it going, but Im not holding my breath.

    Brian,

Unmotivated .... I don't know. I find it hard to believe that the Giants were not motivated after losing at home and going on the road into Philly with a very tough sked to follow. Could be though. It looked more like the Eagles were whoopin some G-men a$$ more than anything else. I saw Plax yelling at guys from the O-line and figured either things are really gonna fall apart at that point or they were gonna pull together.

The Giants won, they sneak out of Philly with a win when things looked very very ugly. Onward and hopefully upward ....

Yep, the Giants look like a bucket of sperm today. Eli looks horrible, the defense looks horrible. They are dumb as a rock and take too many penalties.
