1952 topps Mantle Real or Fake ebay Help????

item number 250023943862 Mantle stated as real. it's ended i've emailed the winner ect..ect..for a deal. I need to know what you guys think. It looks extremely real...but has some dark shadows under his right arm and name. if you can't find it...go to completed items and look at highest sold ungraded mantle in the 1800 dollar range. Also ebay seller stated he owned it in the 80's before fakes came out...and has a respectable feedback. thanks

Stay away. Anyone who puts in the auction that they are willing to entertain offers to end it early is up to no good.

As far as authenticity, more than likely, it's a fake that has been roughed up. Absolutely no good reason there isn't a picture of the back of the card up there.

  • ALRIGHT NEW INFO. He guarantees authenticity...I can get it graded...if it comes back fake he'll give me my money back and leave a negative feedback. What should I do?

  • unless someone has a psa 1 for 1400 with no tears on the card? I doubt it.

Send me your money as you seem to want to blow it on nothing. The one question you need to ask yourself is that if he is so sure it's real why didn't he have it graded in the first place?? The answer is because it's fake plain and simple.

You cannot buy an authentic one for $1400 (unless the card is torn in half). His guarantee is totally worthless, he'll be long gone after he steals your money. The cheapest you're going to get an authentic one is for $3,000, and that'll be a pretty doggy looking PSA 1.

Let me explain something... the card is worth more than $3,000 in a PSA 1 holder, which is where it would wind up if authentic. Why would anyone sell it for half of what it's worth? Would you? Do you really think you're going to get a deal on this card?

Ever heard the old saying: "A fool and his money are soon to be parted". eBay won't do anything for you after you get robbed.

Save your money and your sanity, and keep looking for a certified one, while you save up for it.

if he truly wants to sell it, he can spend the 99.00 and join PSA and submit the damn thing.

    I wouldn't touch it PERIOD.

    2 excellent reasons...EBAY, UNGRADED.

    Auction Link

Those creases have the "look" of being done very recently which they most probably were.
  • asked him to email me a picture of the back. he said he doesnt' have a way to send it??

Think about that he listed it in an auction so he had a way to get the photo for that on his computer so he has a way to send it.

If it were real he would have at least sent it to Beckett, just doing that would add 300 to 400 to the FV, what seller would not do that??
