Florida Marlins 22 Year Old Rookie Anibal Sanchez Pitches No Hitter

Sanchez pitches No-Hitter

Speaking of No Hitters, Randy Johnson has one heading into the 7th inning. Before Sanchez, Randy's Johnson's Perfect Game in 2004 was MLB's last.

Has there ever been 2 No Hitters in one day?

    Johnson lost his...

In 1990 Dave Stewart & Fernando Valenzuela threw one on the same day.

I believe in the early 1990s, there were two no-hitters thrown on the same day.

How sad is it that only 2,000 people actually showed up to witness Anibel Sanchezs' no-hitter.

GO MARLINS! Home of the best fans in baseball!!
  • Not only is it sad but its pitiful.
  • After doing a little reasearch I find that the Red Sox traded him for one Joshua Patrick Beckett? You gotta be kidding me! Great job Theo.

Well before we start throwing jabs at Theo for that one, lets see how this kid pans out first.

Great for him though, congrats to Florida fans !

  • "Acquired from the Red Sox as part of the Josh Beckett/Mike Lowell trade last Thanksgiving, Sanchez (7-2) has won three straight decisions. He's already turned in some marvelous outings, including beating Atlanta on July 25, when he gave up one hit in seven innings."

Not Bad....a No Hitter and a 7 inning 1 Hitter in 9 decisions.

They really do need to relocate this franchise. They continually have top notch young talent and nobody watches them!!! (Except DaBigHurt!)

before we crown Sanchez as the second coming of Roger Clemens, just recall the exploits of Wilson Alvarez...I think that was his name.

Why do they need to relocate it? How is it any different than the D'rays, for example?

Let's not overstate what the Marlins are doing - they are playing .500 ball in a pathetically bad national league. Put that team in the AL east like Tampa is, and you have a team that would be way under .500.

Why would fans go to watch a group of no name players because market forces dictate that the team can't afford to hold on to its stars? I think it's time to understand what forces are at work here.

Aren't they sitting on Nick Adenhart too? Oh well, thats what they get trying to put a baseball franchise in South Florida!

Hmmm, why I am not surprised to see who posted that little tidbit?

The kid's a good pitcher, probably why they needed to trade him to get Beckett (his 2006 season notwithstanding).

we also traded Hanley Ramirez in that deal. I think lowel turned out great highest fielding percentage of any 3rd baseman ever, team player
  • Yes, Lowell has had a very decent year but Beckett has been a huge disappointment.

The combined ages of Beckett and Lowell is 58 years vs. 45 years for Sanchez and Ramirez. Red Sox fans, having seen a glimpse of Anibal Sanchez's and Hanley Ramirez's short careers would you reverse the trade if you could?

Phils busting out the whopping stick tonight. Didn't the Marlins get the memo..dont pitch to Howard? I doubt he will see another
pitch the rest of the series.
