NGC and PCGS

Any thoughts on the quality of their grading services for darkside coins? Do you have preference for one over another, and if so why?

strictly NGC for me; for the following reasons:

i trust them more on my world gold coins

their price is more reasonable for these

    their customer service is great

In general, there doesn't seem to be a huge price spread between the MS grades (i.e. difference in pricing between MS64 and MS66) unlike US coins, so i can't justify spending the extra fees for PCGS

they seem to grade a wider range of world coins than PCGS

  • For MS Canadian nickles (what I collect), PCGS. Too many NGC encased coins that have grades that make me think "huh?".

I think for Canadian coins, PCGS is more conservative than NGC. There are exceptions of course. For other World coins NGC is getting to be the acceptable grading service.

NGC for me! Their attribution even for darkside material and fast turnaround times make them my favourites! ANACS is at the opposite end of the scale as far as these two are concerned, but their grading is strict and better than PCGS IMO.
