I bought a reprint of a reprint!

I have a 52T reprint set, and my mantle has a ding in it. I bought an original 52T mantle reprint card on ebay, it got here and it's a laser print copy on thin paper.
I don't think I ever bought a reprint of a reprint before.

You would think the seller would at least print it on some decent type of cardstock readily available at Staples or Office Max. Hope you give this seller a big fat neg.

Looking at her past feedback she's sold other rare reprints at least twice in addition to mine.

Would you sell it for a picture of a $20?

It was a B/W test card og 89 Fleer Bill Ripken, which I since know is fake. The seller had a copy that was double printed on one side. He picked up at a garage sale and knew little of cards-he said. I bought it and knew it was fake but nevertheless interesting to me.
It was a photocopy on regular copy paper !! Only $5 and worth the converstaion value of buying a copy of a fake.

Not mine - she sold the card 4 times (at least) now.
Topps official reprint?

What's wrong with her title?
Topps issued a reprint set of the 1952 set in 1982 as part of their 30th anniversary celebration. I don't know what it sold for new but I've seen them sell for over $500 (in the late 80s early 90s)
My topps issued reprint mantle has an ink mark and a ding, I wanted to fix it so my set was nm/mt.
you then received a reprint of that?
her title (to me) suggested that you were to receive the 82 reprint.
the title:
1952 TOPPS MICKEY MANTLE OFFICIAL VINTAGE REPRINT RARE
the word 'official' leads me to believe that you (or I) would be getting the official reprint not a reprint of the official reprint.
that is what I thought was wrong with her title.
as for 500.00 (that is the price of the complete set) the mantle usually sells for up to 50.00 last I heard.
So the 3.50 you are out is really nothing to be concerned about.
Steve
Mantle sells for between 10 and 35 again depending on condition and demand.
I'm not as concerned about losing my $5 plus shipping as I am about the other 6 people who I now know have bought an identical reprint from her.
I don't know you well enough for you to be worried about what I'm concerned about. If I want to be concerned about a forger selling counterfeit cards on ebay then I think that's my right.
<< <i>Correct me if I am wrong but didn't you assume that you were getting the official reprint? the one produced in 82?

Hmm........lets see, I never said you had no right to be concerned. Furthermore once you posted about this nonsense it became public and thus allowed me to reply. Be assured I was never worried about any concerns you may have had in this matter.
My original reply was regarding seller's title. (In which you never answerd my followup)
I have seen those sets sell for up to 500.00 and the Mantle for up to 50.00. Perhaps now they do sell for what you claim. Not to far off we are in that regard.
I'd love one for 10.00

Why such a dick?
I made a statement. Then I tried to explain my thoughts. Regarding the title.
I noticed the caviler attitude by not only the buyer but many other replies.
so I'm thinking if I just replied with some witty answer it may have just followed suit.
Why am i such a dick?
Just the way i am, what is your excuse?

edited to add: Jim were you under the impression I was ridiculing the title of your thread? my comment was directed at the ebay title. my followup should have explained that.

Exactly what did WinPitcher say to get you worked up ? Am I missing something here ? To me, as I read the thread it seems he was in your corner. The title led you to believe it was an official reprint, correct ? Wouldnt that be a misleading title then ?
And bhl2359, I think you are way off base with your comment. Winpitcher was attempting to take jimq112's side as I saw it, and got jumped all over for doing so....so he had every right IMO to feel offended by the attack, thus his reply of maybe he should have just sent out the ROFL. If you were trying to help someone and had them come after you, wouldnt you feel like you wasted your time number one, and number two be a bit offended ?

I'm not worked up at all, except at the seller. She's selling these fakes all over the place. I don't care about my $10, I already got my $$ back. I'm frustrated that ebay doesn't care. It's a stupid $10 card (raw) so I spent $10 and thought I had my set done.
I proved the counterfeit to ebay and gave them 5 examples of her selling the card and she's still selling stuff. Ebay sucks.
I think WinPitcher was telling me I was lucky to only be out $3.50 after buying a fake $50 card. I'm not out anything at all, but anybody that buys a fake, no matter how much $ should be mad about it.
Thanks for steppin in, I probably was wrong to say anything, been a rough day for me.

I completely understand your anger and frustration, ebay has a knack of doing that at times. I just didnt want to see a fight break out over what appeared to be a complete misunderstanding. I dont think WinPitcher was questioning your anger at all. In fact i think it was a situation where he was trying to ease your pain by reminding you that its only a few bucks and not something to get an ulcer over. I get worked up over situations like that on ebay, and I have been happy to have others step in and remind me of whats really important....especially on days like today.

I had to read this over a few times - I still don't get it. Steve (winpitcher) is one of the most considerate, benevolent contributors to this board. I don't see why you need to know me to justify my concern for you. Sorry, man, I just don't get it.

Not really, (at least not at first) My initial reply was regarding the seller and her ebay title. How that simple statement and followup blew up into this is amazing.
Bhl you need to wash your mouth out with a lil soap. Then have some cookies and milk and go for a nap.
Bri, Mark thanks for the input. I thought I was going bonkers here. Thought that somehow I missed something. I see by the way you too have replied that I missed nothing.
