    Dave
It wasn't, it was from a guy on the Net 54 board.
  • Question for you guys into the rare backs....what would you be willing to pay for a Tinker (bat off shoulder) in a PSA 2 with a rare black lenox back?? I know these backs go for a premium, and there was the common T206 yesterday in a PSA 3 that went for $500 some odd dollard with a black lenox back?

Does anyone here have any to share?

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

    Very nice card gostillers. Congrats.
  • has everyone gotten their invites to the group? thanks
  • lamontcarterlamontcarter Posts: 748 ✭✭✭
I did but I want to make sure I know how to use it. Is it basically a group e-mail address that if you have/are looking for a card you can just kick an e-mail to the group?
  • I love my T206 collection. I will probably never come close to completing it, but it has been a joy trying!

Yep. Use it as a tool to facillitate t206 sales and trades.

I have the following for trade. Looking for a comparable PSA 3 (somewhat tougher back) or common PSA 4 back. Thanks, Mark

    imageimage
  • seriously...did everyone get the invite? Or did you think about it and thought that the group would be not worthwhile to join?

  • I do have some cards I'll be offering to the "group members" probably later this week on a first come first serve basis before offering to anyone else...or before throwing to the wolves at ebay
  • This addition gives me a complete Lajoie subset. PSA 1 with nice eye appeal.

  • That is a really nice Lajoie 1 Ray....I'll be posting my Walter Johnson as well as soon as it gets here...image
  • lajoies are really tough to get at a a reasonable price. I have yet to find a lajoie card with eye appeal at the prices i buy at. It seems he's just one step behind the big HOF'ers (Cobb, johnson, mathewson) and a few steps above the rest (Walsh, Collins, Joss).

I would create another pricing category with guys like evers, tinker and brown...but, it appears lajoie cards go even more than those guys.
  • For anyone interested I listed cards over on the other site. I was having trouble getting into yahoo today!
  • Major - You are absolutely right on about the Lajoie cards. Very strong price wise. If you ever find a good deal on a decent card, jump on it.

Nice Turner for a 2. Back damage?
  • lamontcarterlamontcarter Posts: 748 ✭✭✭
    Thanks.

No back damage, I keep looking at it trying to figure out why it's only a 2.
  • MD,
Sent you a PM asking for an invite. Never heard back. Maybe i'm not cool enough or something.

I did send the invite. I sent an invite to all those who requested to be in the group. And i ask above, twice, if anyone did or did not receive an invite.

I will send all the invites out again, just in case you didnt get one already.

I think mine may have gone to my Junk Mail originally, so maybe that's why some people didn't get theirs?
  • I just sent out the invites. Let me know if they dont go through. thanks
  • MD,
Did you do it by PM or email? If it was by email maybe i overlooked it. Didn't find anything in my PM box. I did send you a pm awhile back though. Thanks

  • ben...i sent the invites via email. The email will contain a password to get into the group. let me know if you dont get it. thanks
  • Lamont - Real nice group of cards. Those all have killer eye appeal.
    Congrats!

Thanks Ray, I appreciate the kind words.

I've heeded your advice....................eye appeal is the most important thing regardless of the grade. I am absolutely ecstatic about the Waddell (and I think I got a pretty good deal to boot as that card can garner a strong price)

    Regards,

    Scott
  • scott...just remember, stay away from the paperloss/MK backed T206s!!! Besides, Ray hates those anyway image So, be pure to his advice!

Joined the group today, guys. Also have two new additions. I actually already had both a Mattern and a Konetchy Glove High, but my old Mattern has tape on back (beautiful front, though, if anybody needs one) and I can't resist Hindu backs - especially on St. Louisans.

  • My first Johnson...can't get much happier...(unless I add a Matty)...also another solid looking PSA 1 from the same deal.

Congratulations on your Big Train pickup, it's really nice looking. The three cards that I want really bad from this set are a Chase Pink Portrait, Evers Portrait and that card. Congrats again.

A couple commons but with nice stories. I picked up this Doyle off of Beckett for $25! The guy listed the cert # and was very responsive to e-mails which alleviated some of my concerns about getting scammed. I paid through paypal so I wasn't all that worried especially given the amount of money involved. The card arrived Saturday, it's nice to get a "deal" every now and then.

    image

Bought this card off ebay for $26, no mention in the auction of what kind of back it was and much to my surprise it's a nice clean Old Mill.

  • Dave - Great looking Johnson!!

Lamont - Nice deal on nice cards as well; especially a PSA 4 for that price.

That Doyle looks like a horrible 4, but the card itself is still a decent buy for $25. And it's always nice to receive a card whose non-Piedmont/non-Sweet Caporal back is an unexpected surprise. Ya done good.

  • Thanks for the comments guys. Next question is which one to go after next...Matty portrait or Ty Cobb (red)?
  • My humble T206 set officially went 50% complete today!!

It's been an incredible journey which I wouldn't trade for anything. Thanks all for carrying the torch of this thread forward, and for the encouragement along the way. On to the much tougher half image

All I can say is wow and congratulations. I think I'm at a little under 10% right now. You have an impressive collection.

    Steve
Thanks for the kind words. The Doyle is pretty presentable but I agree that it might be a tad overgraded, however I've seen 4's that are worse.

I just picked up this Gibson. I think it might be my favorite card as of right now. Not sure why but I think the image is cool.

    Thanks.

The Gibson is indeed a great card. Actually, a lot of his cards are. He's got some cool E cards in catching gear.

  • My latest additions to the registry....

This one has an MK....light pencil mark at the top....shoot, could have easily been erased before being submitted...lol At any rate...$47.

This one in the end cost me $15.50....

A pair of the southern leaguers I had sent in...these two I'm keeping and not selling...
