How have card sales been lately online ?

Are any of you folks near death on eBay,
or elsewhere?

My card stores are selling almost zip. I do not
sell high-end stuff, but usually I have a little
stream of beginners or set-builders. Now, I
am having some days of ZERO sales.

My days as a Power-Seller are surely numbered.

I have pulled almost everything off of BluJay and
WagglePop. I stopped listing on BidVille. NONE
of them have ANY buyers AT ALL. Total waste of
time and effort.

  • My last group of Sales were terrible. I took a big loss on my lower grade Goudey's. PSA 3 HOF'ers for 30 bucks is rediculous. Definitely considering getting a table at the local card show this fall. Maybe sales will improve as the Holidays Approach....I hope.

There's just a total glut of everything out there. If it's post-1975, then forget it-- the 5$ special that ran for two months this summer brought out God knows how many more thousands of modern slabs, and there isn't enough demand to keep up with alll of it.
  • August and September are always the slowest months on ebay. I started in 1998 and it's always been the same. It usually picks up in October again. Jim.

I've had a few sales in my eBay store, but I am seeing a difference since August started.

Plus, I haven't placed much into the store lately. I've got a bunch of stuff to add (mostly modern stuff), which I'll be doing in the next week or two.

Vintage football hasn't slowed down at all...The "cheapest" months in that area are usually June/July..Now that football season has kicked off, its stays busy through February...

There are always deals to be had if you can get lucky...But the low pop and the high end stuff are on a continual climb upward...I've been tracking prices since 1999...Most people wouldn't believe the price changes..Its exponential.

    Check these prices from 1999---
    1935 National Chicle Dutch Clark # 1 PSA NM 7 $834.00
    1935 National Chicle Ken Strong # 7 PSA NM 7 $437.00
    1935 National Chicle Turk Edwards # 11 PSA NM 7 $449.00
    1935 National Chicle Clarke Hinkle # 24 PSA NM-MT 8 $1,323.00
    1948 Leaf Sid Luckman #1 PSA NM 7 $403.00
1948 Leaf Steve Van Buren #22 PSA NM 7 $305.00
    1948 Leaf Bob Waterfield # 26 PSA NM 7 $224.00
    1948 Leaf Charles Bednarik #54 PSA EX-MT 6 $230.00
    1950 Bowman Dante Lavelli # 78 PSA NM-MT 8 $150.00
    1952 Bowman Large 140 Yale Lary MINT 9 $949.00
    1955 Topps All-American Ernie Nevers #56 PSA NM-MT 8 $110.00
    1955 Topps All-American Ace Parker #84 PSA NM-MT 8 $106.00
    1955 Topps All-American Don Hutson #97 PSA NM-MT 8 $276.00
    1956 Topps Joe Schmidt # 44 PSA MINT 9 $207.00
    1965 Philadelphia Carl Eller #105 PSA MINT 9 $106.00

Anyone who knows anything about the vintage football market probably feels as sick as i do when I see these...lol..Literally you will pay 5x-10x higher now

I listed about a dozen cards on a BIN last week and half sold right away. August is usually pretty slow, but I've seen really strong prices on pre War.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

I know it starts to slow down in early July when it really gets hot outside. People go on vacations and don't buy as much when it's too friggin hot. I also feel that it starts to pick up again in mid-September when it starts to get cooler. So, I disagree on your time frame as I have been selling since 2000. chaz

The point is not how much you sold, it is that the going rate is down. If the cards would ususally bring $20K then you suck and should go bang your head on the wall. It sort of makes you come off like you are trying to brag, and I mean if $10K is enough for you to brag that is ok too. I usually feel good when I go to a show with $10,000 in my pocket, but I feel a lot better knowin that there is another $5,000 in the other hip pocket and $35,000 on the money belt under my shirt.

So, it looks like expensive stuff is doing pretty good.
Just the cheap stuff I sell is going into the toilet.

My ebay store IS CLOSED TEMPORARILY
  • I average roughly $200 - $300 per month in sales. That is without really trying. If you have the right stuff it will sell. I plan on making my store much bigger over the next year. I think sales are pretty brisk and it will be a decent hobby income and worth the while. And most importantly it's fun. Brings you back to the good old days. If anybody is out there with some quality vintage graded and certain good modern stuff I'm interested in buying.
