I have a question about selling a registry set...

I am going to sell the coins on ebay and I was wondering would I be better off selling them as a set or individual?
Any comments appreciated.

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

Agreed...which set?
Check my ebay BIN or Make Offers!!
A high quality set may get some notoriety because the coins are being sold at the same time under your name, but the choice/rarer ones get the attention anyway, and the lesser/more common ones in such a set often get undersold because they get lost in the glow of the others.
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
Not everyone is looking for a complete set, but most folks are looking for that "one" coin.
Best of luck.

some sets have lower valued coins - may need to group them to get combined value up

A somewhat dissenting view. In my opinion, there's no one answer but generally speaking if you have a red-hot collection, you will have added negotiating leverage with an avid collector or any auction house. And that translates into
-- a larger percentage of the hammer;
-- more favorable terms on buy-backs;
-- and if you have a really good collection, you can sometimes even swing an individual catalog for your collection. I had that a few years ago for my 3 cent and 5 cent pattern collection. A separate catalog as well as prime listings within the regular catalog.
Moreover, when the auction house is going to so much added expense as to put out a whole added catalog just for your collection, you can be sure they'll be promoting it more vigorously than usual -- because they like to make money on their projects
So a hot collection translates into added dollars at an auction house in many ways.
And hot collection will translate into added dollars in a collector-to-collector sale. I know; I've paid a "set-premium" of from negative 5% up to plus 14% for hot collections that I was interested in. The negative 5% came because the owner wanted to dispose of the set in a hurry and while I really didn't want the whole thing, he had 6 coins in there that I lusted after. So we reached a compromise.
But even then, because he had a hot collection, he was able to dispose of it much quicker, and for much more money, than if he had had a difuse collection of a smidge here and a tad there.
And, as I noted, I've also paid positive premiums, as well. The positive premiums came when the seller had coins I wanted and was afraid they would balloon at auction. So I paid the premium much like an insurance premium to make sure I'd get 'em.
So whether you dispose of your collection as a whole in a collector-to-collector sale or as individual coins through an auction house, having a great collection adds value.
But in all this chit-chat about money, don't forget to enjoy yourself, because when you collect things you really, really like, that's when you're most likely to make money.
Changing subjects to your daughter's diabetes: I don't know much except a dear friend of mine for over 40 years recently died of it, and another close friend and colleague suffers from it. And I mean suffers. But he tells me there's some interesting research going on today, including an Asian company working on a treatment that let's a person's own body generate its own insulin. It's very experimental, as are the stem-cell forays into diabetes, but promising. He knows a lot about that stuff; I know diddly. I'm hoping he'll be out here in a week or two. If you want, I can get the names of the companies he has his eye on.
Best wishes for her and you,
