Overseas shipping......Ebay help

I recieved an email today from a buyer saying he didn't recieve the item. I have never had this happen. It was overseas and I don't think they let you insure oversea (if I remember correctly). It took him almost a month to contact me about it. Should I refund payment? Partial payment? There really is nothing I can do as far as proving shipping because I usually throw my reciepts away after a couple of weeks after I ship. What do you all think I should do?

How much was the auction item for? It is true that you cannot insure overseas packages unless you ship via Global Express and even then the amount you will recover if a package does get lost varies from country to country. This is the main reason why it's best not to ship outside North America, IMO. It's just not worth the trouble. In addition, packages shipped overseas are often held up in customs and may take weeks to finally arrive, even when shipped air mail or Global priority. How long has it been since you shipped it?

I shipped probably a month ago. I can't find the reciept because I tossed it after a couple of weeks.

I have not had trouble overseas before. I am not really concerned about feedback, but I don't want to rip the guy off. It was about $12 bucks, not too much (Andrew McCutcheon Bow. Heritage auto).

If his FB is significant enough and positive and you feel in your gut that he's telling the truth, I'd just refund him the $12 (less whatever shipping costs you incurred). You can then file a claim through ebay so that they will refund your FVF and allow you to relist at no charge. For $12, it's not worth haggling over, and you'll probably get more business from him in the future in that case, so in the end you'll get your $12 back anyway. I know there are others on this board that may disagree with me, but that's how I'd handle it if I were you. I tend to give others the benefit of the doubt unless I feel they're screwing with me.

  • A few months back; I had a book delivered from Germany, took near two months to receive from an honest seller. Not to worry. Tell the buyer this.
  • 30 days is nothing..........and is probably held up at customs, or doing the Kiss world tour before it finally arrives / i'd refund after 60 days if it still hasn't arrived........

mind you.......as you know European address's are completely different, from what we're used to in North America.......so it could be you muffed the address somehow........?????
