The 1946 and 1949 are very tough in such a fabulous condition.

An extremely rare penny you have there. And the 1946 and 49 look like they were struck yesterday. Thanks for sharing these photos!
  • Did you ever check to see if the obverse was the modified head.....

there was a specimen that came light earlier this year... (london coins I think).. that sold at auction......

    only known specimen so far.....

    Mine is the standard F-192A

How does it differ from the regular 22 reverse?

The easiest way to tell is to look at the trident, the middle prong is shorter whereas the earlier one touches the bead.

I went to the March London coins auction with an eye on bidding on the 1922 with the ME observe. I set myself a limit of £2000, it was in a little better condition than my 1922 and had a estimate if I remember correctly of something like £1250-1750. It opened above my limit by quite a margin and went for £3800 image

I picked up the 3ds at their auction last Sunday both for under estimate. It was definitely a buyers day as there wasn't may there and 90% of stuff went for below estimate. I missed a couple, one for which I'm still kicking myself. There was in the catalogue a pair of 1912H UNC which I already have but if I had read the cat closer the second coin gave the wrong Freemans number and dies. It was a 1919H and went for about £40 image
