It'd be nice if Notre Dame got beat tonite....

goose3goose3 Posts: 11,471 ✭✭✭
so ESPN and their lovefest with them would STFU.

If they're not kissing TO's ass, their kissing Notre Dame's and Brady Quinn's.

They haven't even played yet this year and I'm tired of hearing about them/him.

GO IRISH!!! I love storied Notre Dame.

It's not just ESPN, everyone is on ND's nuts.

They beat nobody last year, and their defense was out and out awful.

I will admit they should not be ranked as high though...
  • I know it's pretty wide open this year, but the fellatio being performed on Notre Dame this year is ridiculous. ESPN shows up for the ND-GaTech and bypasses the F$U-Miami game, even though it's the marquee game of the day.

They did this last year also, bypassing SEC contests in favor of the conference games that ABC and ESPN have contracts with.

ESPN's bias is really getting out of hand, and I've lost a lot of respect for them.

ND has more of a national following than FSU-Miami. With high expectations for ND this year it is no surprise that they want to
show the game even though it looks like a big mismatch. If ND lives up to expectations the Heisman drumbeat on ESPN will get
    very loud for Brady Quinn.

Sorry, I'm not one to forget how Espn jocked up USC; comparing them to the Greatest dynasties/teams of all time only to watch Vince Young stick it to them.

Notre Dame is a legendary college football team to be sure, but they get way more credit that they're due. A preseason ranking of #2 is WAY higher than they should be ranked. They will likely lose tonight to an unranked team, so let's see how far they fall in the polls.

I have to admit, they are highly overrated...especially after seeing how they look tonight. Big time dissapointment.

I do pull for ND, though, when they win it's good for college football in general as they have a wider base of fans than any other team, I believe. I know the networks are also very happy when they do well.

Well, they pulled it off but to keep that # 2 ranking Notre Dame has ALOT of work ahead of them.

  • I also agree that #2 was way to high for them to start in the Polls. I would've thought that a ranking #7-10 would've been much more fitting. Pulled off a tough win tonight, but a W is a W.

WOW, what would of happened if Notre Dame had to go someone good and play? If they had half the nuts the Noles had they
would be 0-1 right now. You all laugh at the ACC, but these are the kinds of teams you all take for granted! Im sure ND will
rebound when they get back home and spank Navy or Montana State Southern.

funny...Cal fan isn't anywhere to be seen...I can almost hear the cries from under the bed. If you all want to see real football, then
just turn the tv on around 8 on Monday!!

    Sincerely,

  • Stalin, ND has a much tougher schedule than ANY team in the ACC. Why? Their indy's and the only program with it's own TV contract. I love the ACC, as it's the conference I've grown up watching. But a W is a W no matter what the score.

  • Wow, can't wait for Free Shoe U. to play those NCAA powerhouses Western Michigan, Rice, Troy and Wake Forest.

How many Criminoles will wind up in the hoosgau between Thanksgiving and New Years?

ND has a tougher schedule although I'm not enamored with them.

    They'll finish somewhere between 5th and 10th.

Like I said they are a bit high in the rankings but will play better than last night.

    I believe that's Skipoutonmybets2myLou you are hearing.

ND's a decent team at best. The commentary by Kirk Herbstreit and the other sheep last nite was pathetic. Quinn could do NO wrong the entire game listening to them. They showed Weiss more than we usually see Ozzy Guillen during a Sox game. Heisman this and Heisman that.....

NOTHING Brady Quinn did last night warranted any consideration for the Heismann award IMO.

I wouldn't be surprised to see ND drop to #3 in the AP. Then next week, it will be a legit match-up of #1 vs #2.

Since they are independent, why are they playing all three of the service academies (Air Force, Navy, Army)? I mean, come on, their schedule is pretty soft. Not West Virginia soft, but still soft.

Tradition? Notre Dame hasn't scheduled all 3 service academies in the same season since 1995. So much for tradition.

UF probably has the toughest schedule in the nation this year. I wish we played the service academies, but being in a conference we don't have the games to spare.image

South Carolina is a conference game. Our non-conference games are Southern Miss, UCF, Western Carolina, and Florida State.

We also play Tennessee, LSU, Alabama, Auburn, and Georgia in conference. At least based on preseason expectations, that's the most difficult schedule in the nation. Period.

We play 6 top-flight teams, while Notre Dame plays 3 (Penn State, Michigan, USC). But at least you play three all-volunteer teams. At least your coach pays attention to stats: ND only beat three teams with winning records last year.

Edited to add: Just because a team is independent doesn't mean you have to schedule them. To say playing Navy, Army, and Air Force is tradition is a cop-out.

  • Hey, all i can add is,,, its a good thing Notre Dame showed up with the "BEST" QB in the nation,,, and the GREAT "Offense Minded Guru Genius" Mr. Weis.

If not, they may have lost to this unranked team,,, image

Honestly,, i feel Notre Dames schedule this year is darn tough,,, one of toughest in the nation !

That being said, if they do not "pick up" their game, they could easily be looking at least 3 losses.

I`m not a Notre Dame hater, i just think the media has adorned them with greatness much too often, and to early. (players & coaches alike)

As a big ohio state fan, if i could take 1 player off ND squad it would not be Brady Quinn,,,,,,,,,,, give me that Tom Zibokosky !!!

Excuse me?!?! Please note, the following are responses to your acccusation and I will not participate in a flame war with you.

    1) I have absolutely, positively nothing to do with that email, period
    2) I never, ever have emailed you, period
    3) I have never, ever had an earthlink account, period

And last, but certainlly not least:

    4) Why in the world would I send you a private email about a wager? I would much rather expose you on these boards for being the yapping, all-bark-no-bite, ship-sailing, against-the-guarantee-before-you-were-for-it Tinkerbell you truely are. I've called you out numerous times here, Tinkerbell. Why oh why would I do it privately when the whole forum can see?? image

If it does exist, which I seriously doubt, please forward it, with all of the headers, codes, or whatever else you can find in there, to CU. I'm sure they have some computer geek who can figure out where that email originated from. They will see that I had absolutely nothing to do with it.
