1632 Hall DAV-3338B

My newest purchase is a 1632 Hall taler - DAV-3338B. The detail on this is incredible for a 374 year old coin. I would love to know how something like this survives through the years.

Here are my pictures in normal light:

Here is one of the pictures that used the Photoshop 'Image --> Adjust --> AutoLevels' feature. I was trying to capture the patina on the coin. It i interesting how this brings out different details on the coin.

Experiment with "Auto Levels" versus "Auto Color" versus "Auto Contrast". I find that the last of these gives the most true rendering of the coin in hand (for me), with perhaps a slight lightening of the midtones afterwards.

Super coin, I wonder if these coins were stored away by wealthy people and handed down through the generations until money became tight or the inheritance was split many ways (when did the first banks appear).

Aaah yes, a familiar date and design.

And yet, graders are often quite tough with it, perhaps because it's a relatively common type, but yours looks undoubtedly mint state, probably choice too. Very nice purchase.
