How to insert picture in post

Please be patient with me, I'm a total newbie here. Can someone tell me how to insert a picture into a message so I can ask a question here about a certain coin? Your kind help would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

When posting a message, there is a tool bar (below Message Text). The 4th one over has a picture frame icon.
You click on that.
Then enter the URL where the picture resides.

That's the problem. I don't have them at an URL. They're scans on my hard drive. I'll look into the instructions above and give it a try.

Thanks Numismanic. I uploaded a couple images to Photobucket and have been messing with this now for an hour or so. But when I preview my posts, the images are gigantic. Is it due to the originals I uploaded? They both were around 400k.

Try reducing the size of the image, or cropping. I usually try for around 100-150kb for my pics.
