What makes a face pretty? What makes a coin pretty?

...Well since this is a coin forum, let's deal with the second question.image
Eye appeal is the obvious answer generally speaking, but what constitutes 'eye appeal' to your eyes?image

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

    Originality image

As for relating that to faces, I personally don't wear makeup and I think that women are trying to hide their real selves when they do pile on the chemicals and color.

    Originality all the way!

Well, to ME it goes something like this.

It's when I look at a coin without magnification fairly quickly and the only things that initially come to mind are the positives (whether it be the toning, PL surfaces, cameo, strike, etc) and I don't have any negatives in mind (Like it's good except for that scratch, nick, etc).

I may find something later down the road with magnification, but to me it's the initial "Come-Hither" that the coin screams.

Lack of ugly does not always equal pretty. It can also be average.

I think with human faces, symmetry plays a large role in the aesthetics. With respect to a coin, I think there's more divergence in what people feel is appealing and symmetry plays less of a role, except perhaps what kind of coin might be most commonly 'pleasing', in that case, I would suppose that again, symmetry in the toning, not too heavy, not too light. For me, personally, when it comes to coins, it's a totally individual coin kind of basis.
