Who is grading at PCGS these days?

MrEurekaMrEureka Posts: 23,943 ✭✭✭✭✭
Please name names.

Also, if you know that somebody is doing classics or moderns only, say so.

I don't know any names either but I have been impressed with the grading of Indian half eagles over the last couple of years. Very consistent in my eyes and these are tough to grade even for the pros.

I'm reasonably certain that Ariceli is a grader currently. Initially thought she was D.H.'s personal assistant, but was informed she works in the grading room.

I recall that in the recent past Bob Riethe's(Main Line Coin) son was being agressively recruited by PCGS for his exceptional skill at grading U.S. gold. Not sure if he ever signed on, but it is a possibility.

Especially if you had the great honor of looking at "first strike" modern non-circulating coinage for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.

    Pluto was mentioned.

Pluto is now no longer considered a planet.

Well Andy, I'll take that under consideration. Reread the thread please.
I'll state the obvious: D.H. is still technically a grader. Who do you think performs Presidential Reviews?

OK, then it's strange that we as a group can't come up more names than this.

    Satisfied?

I'm probably just as curious as you, especially to know the credentials of those nameless, faceless professionals. Maybe the company doesn't promote publication for security reasons?

Andy: Didn't Mike Faraone join PCGS as a grader after leaving ANACS about a year ago, with Morgan Dollar VAMs as a specialty?

Mike may be the only one I know... he is a terrific and helpful person. I have great respect for him as a grader, a numismatist and a person in general.

    Full disclosure

FTR, I have nothing pending at PCGS at the moment.

The name of the PCGS graders is about as important to me, an average collector, as the name of the people who answer the phone at PCGS or work elsewhere behind the scenes. I do not mean any disrespect to the talented people who perform this job, mind you. Should it be important to me to know who they are?

    Nope, Pluto is Goofy's dog.

I am sure that Ron Howard is grading and Gordon Wrubel should also be grading. These are both excellent numismatists.

I am pretty sure that Bob Riethe's son is also grading.

I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.
