thoughts on the new imaging format?

5 of my world gold coins are now finished, and NGC sent me the images I ordered. They recently changed their picture format. Thoughts?

"so-so" is better than i can do though, so i guess it would be an improvement for me. image I find proof gold coinage especially hard to photograph.

    Doug,
Some of the pics look fuzzy to me. I would expect NGC to do a better job.
    IMHO

But...... the coins are very nice image

no doubt about it, better than I can do, too... but for a professional image - is it me, or do they sorta look pixely

reverse of #1 looks slightly out of focus. reverse of #2 looks like a little motion blur. all of them look pixellated. PCGS pics are much better.

Hell, I'm no pro by any stretch, and even I can do better. image

The pics are out of focus in some cases, pixelated in others. I also don't care for some of the aesthetic choices they've made with respect to reflectivity in some of the shots.

Granted, it's only $3, but given the quality PCGS provides, and what some of the experienced shooters here can provide, I'd be embarrassed if I were NGC... image

Pictures are of quite a poor quality for a professional company...

Did NGC kiss you after they were done with you ???

My first thought was, I hope he didn't have to pay for those.

Could they make the NGC logo any larger?

I couldn't agree more. Given the low resolution, which in my opinion is the root cause of many of the quality complaints, I find the amount of the limited real estate devoted to their logo and presentation insultingly arrogant and self promoting. It's about the coins stupid.
Also I much prefer the side by side pesentation of PCGS.
