CoinVault gets early X-Mas Gifts ?

Rumor has it that---- CoinVault and SilverTowne managed to acquire approx. 20 % of the 20th Anniversary Gold Sets. NGC will no doubt be working Overtime to grade all these coins for the X-Mas Season ! Who will be the first to ante-up $5K + for a PF70 Reverse Proof !!!! Or Maybe $500 for a Reverse ASE. Merry X-Mas to All !!! Ho, Ho , Ho

How is it possible for them to aquire such a large amount of a limited release coin? Especially when everyone is limited to 10 sets?

I know one business that had each of it's employees order the max but that does not seem practical to get 2000 sets which is what you implied.

The public was limited to 10 sets, does anyone know if corporations can be awarded contracts for larger amounts? For instance, I think ICG grades most of these shows' coins - could they have contracted to buy 2,000 sets? Then split the profit or some other scenario with the shopping channels?

I know that dealers who qualify can get a 5% discount from the mint but I don't think they get special privaleges when limits are implemented.

"Rumor" could simply be YOUR wishful thinking. In reality, if the US Mint allowed this kind of disbursion on this particular issue, all hell would break out when it became public, and we all know that something like this, if it is true WILL become public. Steveimage
  • Well, what I now worry about given the enormous amounts of coins these volume sellers go through to get the MS70's and PR70's is that somehow they get the coins first and return what they don't like and THEN us mortals get our orders.

I want to know that the Mint ships theirs and mine on the same day or close to it. I'm not so confident that happens.

You know what rumors are? Unverified statements. I can make a lot of those. Know what else they are? Best not spread if they cannot be verified.

Yes - I have to call BS either way. If they did aquire 20% it wasn't done with an above board agreement with the Mint, but more likely around the rules they've set but with their knowledge.

Coins like this, sold through the web site, are specifically meant for collectors, thus why the limit, and there is no discount for the dealers, as they are not offered through the "dealer distribution" network...
