A race for third place—Will ANACS and ICG battle it out for the ANA’s third endorsement of TPGs?
I was reading CW, and there was a front page article about the ANA’s endorsement of a minimum of two, but not more than three, third party grading services. I read the rules (I don’t have the article in front of me now, so I am going by memory, which is frightening), and it looks like PCGS and NGS are a lock for the first of the two endorsements by the ANA. However, it looks like the real race will be for third place. I figure that if there are three of the coveted endorsements given out by the ANA, it will be a horse race between ANACS and ICG. Does anyone have any comments on which one might get the nod and why? Also, would an ANA endorsement influence your decision to use or not to use either of these two services? Personally, I don’t care what the ANA says, but I was curious what you think. Also, I am assuming that the third place winner will be either ANACS or ICG. Is there a dark horse that we should be betting on?

<< <i>Don't be so sure that PCGS and/or NGC will accept the ANA's terms for endorsement. It's all about the M O N E Y with the ANA and that includes lots of payments to the ANA for publicity, etc. It will be very interesting. Steve
I agree. If PCGS were smart, and I think they are sometimes, they wil pass on the endorsement altogether, especially given the shenanigans with the past "bidding" for their logo and the general reputation the ANA has begun to inherit. Frankly, the ANA needs PCGS's enthusiasm to make this work much more than PCGS needs the endorsement.

<< <i>so you really think the winners will be NGC, ANACS, ICG
and PCGS will pass.....

I believe that is a plausable scenario. ICG and/or ANACS may also pass, and ANI could get an endorsement

<< <i>I read the article. It said the ANA could endorse up to eight grading conservation firms. >>
Read further into the article where they say they are going to limit it to three.

Not me. Buy the holder, not the endorsement.

I agree with this sentiment.

Yes, the same people that care about having a "first strike" holder, which is to say, a lot of uninformed idiots.
