1995 4 coin gold proof set

Does any one know if in 1995 when the mint sold the 1995 4 coin gold proof set if people knew they were going to get the silver proof from west point?

Just curious if it was known.

Thanks,

JB

Back then, I received a brochure/order form from the Mint showing the 5-coins AE anniversary set. I threw the order form away because I thought the offer price of $999 was ridiculously high, considering gold was only about $300 an ounce. Had I known that there were a large number of Silver Proof AE collectors, I could have ordered at least 1 set for myself.

Lesson learned and today I placed an order for the limited quantity Gold set.

  • Thank you for all your replies. I was curious if the mint would add in a coin for "free" as a "gift" without you knowing before hand.

Thanks again. I read alot of interesting posts on this site...think it is great!!!
