2000th post give away to who can answer this question.............

SanctionIISanctionII Posts: 12,561 ✭✭✭✭✭
.........with the winner receiving a CAM Proof Frankie or a CAM Proof silver Kennedy.

I have been a member of the forums for just over 2 years. I have enjoyed the forums very much and to celebrate my 2000th post have decided to have a give away.

The winner is the person who correctly answers (or if none, the person with the closest to the correct answer in my opinion) the following question:

What does the "Sanction" in "SanctionII" mean?

Hint: movie/Kennedy.

    Sanction II Litigation Support

Verdict Systems introduced Sanction II this summer as an upgrade to its successful trial presentation software. Aimed at small- to mid-sized law firms, Sanction II certainly lives up to its reputation of being within the budgets of many small firms while providing an effective alternative to expensive programs used by large firms.

It’s important to note that Sanction II is a document and video presentation program for trial, not a trial preparation manager. If you are looking for a way to enhance your courtroom line of attack with electronic documents, deposition sound-bytes and colorful presentations, then this is your program.

    assassination.

There, first one to say it AND spell it correctly. Much different from assination:

In the Eiger Sanction, the main character (Clint Eastwood) is a collector that supports his hobby by sanctions.

as far as the "II" I guess a similar but different 2nd version of this character?

edit: How bizarre - this very post is my 2000th! Way to go my temporary post count twin.

yep...got to be Eiger Sanction with Clint Eastwood and George Kennedy... Clint was charged with "sanctioning" [ie assasinating] one of the bad guys on a climbing trip up the Northface of the Eiger. George Kennedy was his climbing partner. The climbing scenes were a bit far-fetched, but the scenery was pretty nice.

    TTT, for the night crew.

Winner will be announced at by noon tomorrow.
  • Coin collecting is your second hobby, after collecting art (which is what Clint Eastwood's character collected in the Eiger Sanction).

In a shameless pitch for bonus points, I'll mention that George Kennedy had some truly classic lines in the movie.

For instance, after he and Eastwood top out on a spire in Monument Valley, Kennedy says he's in the mood for a beer and Clint says something like: "Who would be dumb enough to carry beer up here?" Kennedy reaches into Clint's pack, pulls out a beer and says: "You did." Eastwood then complains that it's warm. Kennedy responds, "I thought you'd draw the line at carrying ice."

Later, a woman disparages men who climb the Eiger to "prove their manhood." Kennedy responds: "Lady, get screwed. It would probably do you a lot of good."

(Full disclosure - I found/borrowed these lines from user reviews of the movie at www.chockstone.org).

    TTT.

It is 10:37 a.m and I have decided to end the contest earlier than 12:00 noon.

The winner is LastExitInNy since he came up with the correct answer and came up with it first.

I college hoops teamate of mine gave me the nickname "Sanction" in college after we went to a showing of the Eiger Sanction starring Clint Eastwood, George Kennedy and David Cassidy.

I guess my hint was too easy. I should have replaced Kennedy with Cassidy in the hint. That may have made it a little tougher.

The story behind "II" will have to wait for another day.

So to the winner I say PM me and let me know if you want a CAM Frankie or CAM Silver Kennedy, along with shipping instructions.

Thanks to all who participated. SanctionII.
