80-S morgans are very common with toning....
<< <i>but seeing as how it's an 1880 S, well, I have never seen a toned one.

All the ones I have seen are white. Dipped, then?

80-S morgans are very, very common in whatever condition you want them. White, toned, PL, DMPL, gem, etc...

Here you go!
<< <i>Looks AT if you consider some of the AT coins we have been seeing the last couple of days

Certainly nothing could have stopped him from crossing rattler's to NGC, right?

Bag toned Morgans will often have some gold/brown around the periph of the reverse.
thats why my thread title is worded that way
But, in answer to the original question posed, the lack of toning wrapped around to the reverse can easily be caused if exposure of the reverse to the canvas bag is blocked by another coin.
