Reverse Proof Grading

Will a reverse proof be graded with DCAM designation just like a normal proof coin?

A new term MACD will be applied

  • I don't have them here in front of me but at least in the case of the Gold Britannia coins that I have, PCGS has maintained a DCAM designation even though they are reverse proofs.

With the mirror finish being on the raised elements they are going to be hard to keep clean IMO

These are fabulous coins!! I have seen them in person and think they will be a real hit. Also, based on limited (250K) production, they will be a minor key to this series. If you like the proof SAEs, you will love this coin.

  • Maybe an "R" Prefix will be added ? !
  • That reverse will not be a minor key...it will be next to the 95 W. It being an odd ball too might even kick it up higher in value on down the road.

FYI - "Reverse Proof Grading" starts at P-01 for a perfect coin straight from the dies, and goes to PRF-70 for something that is barely identifiable.

The holders are also printed with white letters on dark color background, and the coins are put in the slab reverse-up. Descriptions are printed in backwards type so you have to use a mirror (or possibly a nice 1921 Zerbe “proof”-like dollar) to read the text. Lastly, they will be shipped from the TPGs taped to the outside of the shipping box...postage and your address will be on the inside.

    OK...end of sarcasm....

rest assured, there will be more reverse proofs in the future. This is not the first instance of a US Mint reverse proof bullion coin. The early platinum bullion coins were all reverse proof. The ASE's are not the first and they certainly will not be the last.

The question is, Is this the last of the 06 RPFs?

Were they reverse proof or reverse proof like? I don't think the bullion platinum eagles were true proofs.
