BEP Officials Claim Texas P&D Quarters are " Normal" Finish !

CW, 9/11 reports BEP Officials claim Texas Quarters were not Minted in 2005 with a Satin Finish. One wonders if these are the same Officials that pronounced the G. Goodacre Sacajewa Golden Dollars as not being Burnished ! They later recanted their "Opinion" ! Maybe this time they got it right ?

The BEP distributed some Texas Coin and Currency sets.

  • I think the BEP and U.S. Mint have their heads up each others butts. Did the article mention if Coin World reviewed the coins, what their opinion is?? I just talked to David Hall's Assistant, gave her the jist of it, she is going to talk to CarolJ and David HAll annd hopefully Mr. Hall will call me tomorrow insructing me what to do with the coins. I requested he make the examination and determine what to do from there. This is far from over my fellow board members.

EDITED TO ADD: Both Quarters are D, no P's in the set.

well if they want to call them regular coins, I take them out of their holders, submit them, get back a bunch of MS-69's and sell them, make a killing and be done with it.
  • Fred--The Officials that made the statement regarding the coin Finish were quoted by CW as being from the BEP not the Mint ! The BEP assembled and Marketed the Coin & Currency Sets .

As if the BEP would have a clue, just because they distributed some coin and currency sets. Gimme a friggin break.
  • Has anyone read the article and seen if CW reviewed the coins?

Of course, that's not a denial that they might have been minted in 2004 with a Satin Finish, such as for trial pieces or for planned future use, and then utilized in 2006 as part of the BEP set. image

I agree with Pony Puller, they have given you correct info "Not minted in 2005....." absolutely TRUE.

They were struck in 2004, just as the law provides, and what a sweet test of those special dies (SATIN FINISH).

Not necessarily. If the Red Book and/or major TPGs beg to differ, what the BEP says won't mean diddly.

The 2004 Texas quarter in this set is definitely different in terms of finish. Looks very much like Satin Finish of alter years.
