Anaconda Rare Coins - Fantastic Denver ANA $1,000,000+ in New Inventory + Show Report!

Ok, not much of a show report but here goes.

Our Denver ANA trip was spectacular. We headed out for Denver (drove there) on Wednesday evening Aug 9. We drove through the night and arrived in Colorado Springs at 9:00AM on Thursday where we visited the ANA museum. Their research library is simply outstanding! We bought some numismatic books and charged the laptop up before heading into Cripple Creek where we stayed at the Double Eagle hotel and casino. Neither of us gambled but we did take a trip out to Victor, CO just a couple of miles away from Cripple Creek and found Joseph Lesher's house. It had a Limo parked out front and appeared to be part of a Motorcycle store. Sheesh. Anyway, the next day we headed into Denver to view the lots at Heritage. We came up with a list of about 350 lots to bid on. (we got 9 coins!) We then set up at the Pre-ANA show where we picked up a few nice coins. We then drove back into the mountains and stayed in a sleepy little mountain town called Idaho Springs at the Heritage Inn. Nice place with a balcony overlooking a mountain stream. The heritage auction lots we were watching were already very high by the time floor bidding got underway from internet bids and such so that narrowed our interest to a few choice pieces that we were willing to pay premiums for. At the prices most of the coins we saw were going for, someone could make a living out of buying coins at back of bid and throwing them in auction as most lots were 15%-20% over wholesale levels for no apparent reason. The coins weren't terribly nice with the exception of a few but prices were extremely strong even for hum-drum examples. After we picked up our lots at Heritage we checked out the B&M auction. We put in many strong bids for coins from the Lull collection of Standing Liberty Quaters but were blown away by both internet bids and floor bidders. They were exceptional coins and they did as well as they should have. We did manage to sneak away with 6 or so lots from B&M. They were the lots we had focused on and ended up getting them at reasonable levels to our surprise. We then started setting up at the ANA and couldn't even get our coins out into the cases before we were swamped with people at our booth. Needless to say this was an EXTREMELY good buying show. We came back with around 200 new coins for our inventory, most of them were sold before we got back and some others didn't make it to the web. I did hear alot of complaining from other dealers that they couldn't find any new nice material at the show but we certainly didn't have a hard time locating it. Most of it found us! Anyway, it was a fantastic show and I have been working my tail off to get these imaged, cataloged (one-liner descriptions if you call that cataloging), and inventoried. I spent the entire weekend up here making sure it was done. If you see a coin that you have interest in, please don't hesitate to call me for a better description. Enjoy!
