Can anyone give us a summary of this post: "Pcgs forum members please accept my apologies&quot

I don't have three hours to read all 375+ posts. A summary would be great.

Some people want to know how he toned them, others want simply pictures for an education in AT coins.

Even those who commend him for "coming clean" (or cleaner) aren't exactly forgetting what happened.

One sidebar to it is that another person was making some pretty serious accusations about AT'd coins in a registry set and that he told this other person how to doctor coins, and when this other person has repeatedly been called to the mat he has "refused" to play his hand.

And an interesting thread within the thread, Boom has accused MOC of having coins in his registry set that are "known by Boom" to be AT'd and he stated he has proof. Many have called his bluff including MOC, and now Boom is backing down......

Oh goody...here comes another 300+ thread on the MOC saga. It's to the point where I'm now WELCOMING gold buffalo threads!
  • I think this says it all which is why I have not posted to those threads.

  • Basically, Do you believe a Leopard can change its Spots ?---R. Kipling If so, mea culpa's accepted, end of story !
  • KIND OF REMINDS ME OF PETE ROSE AND REFAEL PALMERO

One guys swears that he never bet on baseball and the other swore in front of Congress that he never took steroids. Rose ultimately confesses to his gambling and Palmero gets caught a few weeks later taking steroid. Neither will make it to the Hall which is a shame given their stats.

Yes, I know that folks will say that this is entirely different. But like I said above, it reminds me of people lying until they can't lie anymore.

Whether this is a major issue or not isn't the point -- the guy LIED. And he would not have confessed if the boys had not caught him.

An incident that can be compared in magnitude to a single shark in the entire ocean. I would have already forgotten about it if there weren't so many posts about it flooding the forum.image

Considering how much time and money you put into toners, I wouldn't be so quick to be forgetting what has been going on in this hobby...

Maybe he loves his toners enough to not care how much he paid, and maybe he doesn't ever care about potential resale value. But I think it would be hard not to care with so much premium money invested in toners.

Fair statement. I can't believe though how so many members here are, IMO, over-reacting with such a degree of drama, it's amazing. First of all, those coins (at least the ones I've seen so far) that were messed with, are so blatantly obvious fakes or at the very least, severely questionable... Am I the only one who sees this??? I doubt it. Second of all, this kind of 'hanky panky' is nothing new to this hobby. ATing is an obvious 'black-mark' that has plagued, and will continue to plague the hobby, but mostly to the uninformed... Again, old news. I am very dissappointed that it is so close to 'home' in terms of a trusted fellow forum member, but that's where my surprise ends. I've accumulated my collection and will definitely continue to do so when ever I am able to. Again, there will always be the extremists whenever a scandal breaks, "Oh no! The coin hobby will crash and burn and toned coin values will drop severely"!!! All I can do when hearing statements like that is image. This will have little effect in the short term, and zero effect in the long term, IMHO.image

The point is this: In terms of determining whether or not to buy a coin for its color, many less knowledgeable people -- who are told again and again to stick to "top tier TPG slabs" to avoid most AT coins -- may now have to add PCGS Rattlers (at minimum) to their list of coins to treat as RAW where color is concerned.

I think a lot of more savvy people recognize some of those MOC rattlers as OBVIOUS AT jobs. But remember that most of the market isn't that savvy. All they know is that it's in a PCGS holder, so it must be good.

MOC is a liar and thief that has done major damage to the hobby.

I do agree with your points. We all (especially those beginning to collect) need to wise up and know 'the game'.
