For the Record: The Most Knowledgeable Pattern Experts on the Boards are

Mr Eureka (Andy Lustig)
Julian (Leidman)
Fred Weinberg
Boiler78 (Mark Hagen)
I've read several threads saying I was the expert. While flattered, I feel it is important to set the record straight. These guys all know more than I do.

I appreciate you putting my name on the list, but just
for clarification - I haven't dealt in Patterns in many years.
I did buy/sell them from about 1973 to the mid-1990's, but
I'm not in that area any more.
The largest deal was in 1974, about 1,100 Patterns, purchased
from Abe Kossof. All of the notations in the old Judd book that
say "Numismatics, Ltd.", were notations/discoveries that I made
going thru the deal........including some of the fantastic Fraiser
Die Trial pieces......
Anyway, I don't think I belong on the list, unless you have a
sub-catagory of "Long Time Ago"........
Fred
Julian (Leidman)-----well, show me an area where this character doesn't know more than most of us. is his brain larger than average or does he just access more of it??
Fred Weinberg-----i always thought he was the error guru, don't tell me he knows all about Patterns, too??
Boiler78 (Mark Hagen)-----a genuine nice guy with a good eye and fabulous coins whenever he shares pictures or in hand examples. i suspected he wasn't trusting someone elses opinion!!!
oh, yeah, Rick seems to have something on the ball, also. i imagine if you put these five guys in a hat and shook it real good, whoever you pulled out would have an answer to pretty much any question. i know they always have whenever i've asked!!

"Keep in mind that most of what passes as numismatic information is no more than tested opinion at best, and marketing blather at worst. However, I try to choose my words carefully, since I know that you guys are always watching." - Joe O'Connor
I would add that regulated (David McCarthy) is very knowledgeable about patterns and I think pistareen (John Kraljevich) sprinkles patterns on his breakfast cereal!
Sneaky? You assume too much. What makes you think I know the difference between fact and fiction?

<< <i>R K Kay, you are being very modest. >>
Rick also should be hi on the list IMO!
Would agree with Rick and the addendum by Boiler - smart experienced dudes, one and all.
