VAMs and Regrading questions

Has anyone sent in a coin already attributed by PCGS for regrading along with other non VAMs? If correct there is no need to pay for the variety review since the coin is already attributed.

Here's my question now: Can the submission form include VAMs and Non-VAMS since only grading applies?

My guess is no, because re-grades are cracked, graded raw, then re-holdered. If you cannot combine
raw non-vam coins with vam coins normally, I would assume that would apply here as well.

I'd love to be wrong though...

The existing serial numbers of the coins sent in for regrade refer back to all the attribution/designation information that PCGS has already given the coin (VAM, DMPL, grade, etc.) All you're having done is a reassessment of the grade, which is why you don't have to pay a VAM attribution fee again.

It's also why it should be totally OK to send VAMs and non-VAMs in as part of the same order... although I bet it will show things down to treat parts of the order differently than others. Please let us know if you find out for sure about this.
    When in doubt, don't.

    hi, i'm tom.

i do not doctor coins like some who post in here.

  • Yes, you can do it. Regrades are in for grading only - - so, VAM or no VAM, its all the same. Call customer service to confirm.

I did call and confirm with customer service. VAM and non-VAMs are allowed on the same submission as long as they're regrades only.

Will see if there is any delay encountered....hope not.
