under pcgs free members subm. voulcher, they cap the value of the coin submitted @ $3000, if you were to submit one that would have actualy graded higher but surpassed the $3000 mark would they grade it lower as to not surpass $3000?

They probably would allow it to slide. If it is worth over $3000 raw, or would no-question grade within the range that would put it at that value, I don't believe they would.
  • received one a few months back MS65-$850, MS66-$3900. VERY CLOSE TO 66, or a very high 65

I would be almost sure that all they care about is the number you write on the submission form. If you want to declare a $10k coin as $2.99K, the'll grade it for you would be my guess.

  • They never have asked for additional fees from me when they graded a coin higher and worth more than I originally declared it for, so there shouldn't be a problem at all.

Coins are graded based on the coin, not the value declared on submission forms or the potential value of a condition rarity type coin. So if it is worth more, what your declaration is is mainly for insurance in the event your coin gets lost. I don't think you would have to worry should the value be increased because of the condition rarity factor as you probably cannot know that going in.

Whenever there is a question regarding your submission, Customer Service will contact you for either clarification or additional funds. PCGS is very flexible and will always work with their customers. This DOES NOT mean that you will always get the grade you want though as many, many can tell you!

The grades your coin receive has little to do with the value you place on them . After all, value is a relative thing!

My suggestion is to just submit the coin with insurance for what its current value is and not what you hope it will grade at.
