Hypothetical: People who use money?

This hypothetical is inspired by recent hypotheticals.

Considering odds are good that at some point you've received money that at some point was any one or more of the following:
stolenused to do something illegallost by a little old ladyunwittingly spent on beeractually the root of all eviletc.
Don't you feel guilty unless you accept this money only with an affadavit that the history of whatever money you accept has a clean and guilt free history from the mint to your pocket?

For a while I would only accept money either from the mint itself or money that only circulated in out and around of church collection plates. This proved difficult, especially when buying gas.

Personally I've stopped using actual "money" and now only complete "transactions" with "plastic" or "check."

  • I've only ever bought beer wittingly... but I'm sure if someone had bought some unwillingly that they'd want me to track them down and issue a refund.

I've heard that 20% of circulated paper money has trace amounts of illegal drugs on them... never from a reliable source, though.

Edited to add that I just ran a seach and came up with this source.

I saw a TV program about 15 years ago saying the same thing. Whether it's true or not I don't know, but it's one of those factoids that I've never forgotten.

I'll gladly accept any of this guilt-inducing money. My use of the money should free your conscience of any ill thoughts.

Large amounts of cash are simply assumed to be stolen or used for drugs by most police departments
and will be confiscated. No one has efined "large amounts" so it might be wise to keep cash use to a
    minimum.

Do you feel guilty for using the highway that undoubtedly is being used for kidnapping, smuggling of illegal aliens, importing of drugs, etc? What about telephone lines that are being used for wire fraud? Stores that are selling items that are undoubtedly being used for murder (rope, knives, guns, chemicals)?
