When did your dealer lose his sight? Sad...

Always looking for original, better date VF20-VF35 Barber quarters and halves, and a quality beer.
  • russ its goldmastersusa.com. They are currently paying 8.43 X face for 90% silver coins pre 1965. I got a roll of Washington Silver Quarters for 63.33 + 5.00 shipping yesterday and I bought 2 rolls of silver dimes for 29.99 each last week + 4.50 shipping.

Yes I had some ripken FF cards 17 years ago that I took a bath on because I thought it was going to go up and in fact it ended up being worthless. Its a good reminder for me to be careful what I buy because that was a stupid decision but i was a young kid at the time.
  • oh yeah since I live about 1 mile away from goldmastersusa.com I dont bother mailing the package so I save the cost of shipping and insurance, packaging, etc. I just take it in and they send a check the next day.

there is a cardboard guy on the cardboard board that collects the FF cards. There are actually quite a few variations of that card.

    Ebay auction # 200017530302

I bought a roll of silver washingtons for $63 something and he wanted like $10 for shipping. I told him to throw in a second roll for the same price ( another $63 ) because I didnt want to pay $10 shipping for 1 roll. He said he couldnt do it, but he would lower the shipping to $5 for me. What a buffoon, if he had said $5 shipping in the first place the roll would have probably gone for $ 75. Ha. I shouldnt be posting this probably but I doubt you guys are going to be too interested in what amounts to a $15 profit less what it would cost you to send the package, pay insurance, etc.
  • Russ they are coins. They are paying 8.43 X face for pre 1965 90% silver coins.
  • Yeah Goose Fleer had to fix the f*** F*** error, so they kept on fixing it wrong to keep interest in it high. I dont have any left, got tired of them and eventually sold them for about 20% what I had paid.

I regularly (regularly = every month or so) buy non-bullion coins and flip them to my local dealer for more than I paid on eBay. It could probably be more often, but I don't try too hard and I only bid on things like that where I'm pretty sure I can get 2x what I paid. Silvereagle's example is only 1.25x, so I probably wouldn't have even noticed it.

There's a LOT of good stuff on eBay.
  • Right now, I am winning 55 silver dimes for $31. Got 56 minutes to go though.
  • no Jonathan I am not even getting 1.25 X what I pay its closer to like 1.15 X face. But I will take a 15% gain with about a 10 day total turnaround. Keeping my fingers crossed on those 55 dimes.

Goldmasters is down to 8.42 X face now.

I found that same auction also. However, I am way too lazy to send in a check. Somebody else can win it.
  • Woo Hoo. I won the auction. 55 1964 P dimes for $31 + $4.50 s/h = $35.50 plus $1 for a money order and 39 cents for a stamp = $36.89. I can sell them for 55 * 8.33 which is almost $46. Again, I love Ebay.

What if silver goes down before you get them?

Do you even check these to see if any of these items are worth anything?
    BU?

Maybe you are missing out on more than $15? image

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Interesting - I guess you can make money on Ebay.

But on the above example there is only a $9 profit. Wouldn't be worth my time.

Most dealers around here quote a lower price of you don't have $100 face in silver coinage. If your dealer quotes that price for 1 roll you're lucky!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

  • 9$ dollars profit !! Are you getting this Russ ??

The guy is making a killing off ebay !

    I love Ebay too !

Silver rounds also frequently sell quite a bit below melt. I buy to keep (Maryland related Exonumia) but have won some 1 oz. rounds for around $5 with $1-$2 s/h. If you have the time for it you could search silver rounds for the bargains, you could make a few extra dollars here and there. Once you get a big pile of 'em, sell them off to a bullion dealer.

What you shouldn't be posting is that the fellow you're doing business with is a buffoon. You obviously wouldn't say that to his face.
