Are 2006 nickels circulating? Where are they?

rec78rec78 Posts: 5,873 ✭✭✭✭✭
The reason i ask this is that right after they came out i found one. But have not gotten any in circulation since. It is almost Sept and i usually see a lot more new nickels by now. The quarters, dimes and cents are all over the place. Where are the new nickels? Has anyone else noticed this? Any Comments? Please let me know if they are well in circulation where you are. They aren't here. Thanks, Bob

  • I get about one every three weeks in my change from NYC/Brooklyn.

    Okay shape nothing special.

Edited to add that I actually know the date that I first got the new nickel.

2006-D got from my change on April 6, 2006 in the Manhattan.

Haven't seen any in circulation in upstate NY so far. Went to the local banks to try and get some and they said they don't order any nickel rolls (enough supply already). The 2004 nickels are finally starting to circulate some up here. The banks have rolls of the new quarters and the pennies are all over like you said, haven't noticed much with the dimes.
  • I've found a few so far, still haven't seen any Denver ones yet thought (I'm on the East Coast)

I have boxes from the mint, as far as seeing the new nickels in circulation, the only one I have seen is the ocean in view. MAINE

I'm in Fort Worth, Texas, and I have seen ALOT.

Just recently, I turned in about $50 worth at one time.

In my area, they are pretty common.
Great transaction with: Relaxn, Collectorcoins, OKCC

I think I have seen one or two 2006 pieces. Lately I have been seeing a lot of last year's Ocean View ones.
