1988 kennedy half Moved mint mark error?

I have been going through rolls of half dollars and I found a kennedy half that shows the P mint mark moved. It looks like the mint mark is moved to the right of where it is on all the other 1988P halves i have. In fact, when I look at it, it is centered more like the way a 1988D half is. It is so noticeable that my 22 yr old daughter could see it without magnification. Is this an error I should do anything with?

Sorry, my camera takes such blurry picts, they wouldnt help much. If you look at the 1988 D kennedy, that is where my P mint mark is. The normal P mint mark is very much to the left of where the D mint mark is. That's why it looks so weird to us.

Before 1985 all mintmarks were punched into each working die by hand. Naturally the mintmark would not be in the same place on every die. Sometimes the position differs significantly from the "normal" position. In 1985 the mintmark was added to the original models that were used to create the proof dies. Between 1985 and 1990 they eventually added the mintmarks to the rest of the models so that by 190 the mintmark was on the master hub for al of the coins. No more "roaming" mintmarks or repunched mintmarks. Apparently they still hadn't gotten to the half dollar yet by 1988.
  • Since I had my Kennedy out to look at I checked my 1988's.

I got mine out of a mint set and as far as my 38 yr old eyes can tell the mintmarks are almost in the same spot for each.
Some call it an accumulation not a collection
