So what's up with Anacs slabbing problem coins in their "classic" holders?

Why not use the fancy new ones if they are better? Are they just trying to clean out their inventory?

I like what CGC does for comic books (part of NGC I think). The label color is different for problem books. The only reason I would send a set to Anacs would be if some of the coins are probelms and I would want all of the slabs to somewhat match. Now there is not reason to even do that.

I don't know but as soon as they put problem coins in the new slabs they are going to get 100% of the business that I would have before sent to PCGS. That's the last thing I'm waiting for.

I think the new owners believe ANACS had somewhat of an image problem before (whether or not that is true) and slabbing the problem coins in the old-style holders well help clean up the image of coins in new-style slabs. I wouldn't expect them to begin holdering problem coins in the new slabs any time soon.

ANACS said upon introducing the new style holder that reholders will only be given the new style holder IF the coin meets current ANACS grading standards. They also stated that problem coins would not be given the new holders for reholder, OR for initial grading.
I collect Capped Bust series by variety in PCGS AU/MS grades.
