Heres One

Hi Folks..

Still trying to Photograph , starting to get a recipe down.

I have this 42 Dime. Its in a Flip.

Is it OK to Photo in the flip as long as its relatively new? Or is it just a No no.

Is the file too big or is this about the right size?

How would this grade? Probably of not much value..

Thanks

I don't have much luck photographing through the plastic. You might want to work on your white balance, too.

I grade it AU. No wear, but it's been wiped, or inside smoeones pocket for a spell.

How are you getting such huge images??? Mine seem to be getting resized smaller...much smaller somehow??!!

  • Reduce pic size - as a former dial-upper, I know this pic is a pain. Nice Merc though!

You can take photograhps through flips, but you will take better photographs with the coin raw. You lose contrast and introduce reflections if you try through a flip/2x2.

I would suggest you resize your photos to about between 600 and 800 pixels square -- yours are about twice that size.

I grade the coin AU 58. I think I see some rub on the high points.

    Hope this helps...Mike

p.s. pretty Merc & thanks for sharing.

  • Thanks for the input folks.

    I can resize them to 600 x 800. The Camera is a Sony F717 5MP with 1x2x4 lenses on a tripod.

I know the white balance is off. The lighting is a Florescent Auto shop lite and an 18v Ryobi flashlght !!

I am getting correct lighting and making a light box this weekend. I am getting to the point of knowing what I need.

Mercs are not my passion...but I will take it to the proper thread to discuss based on what I read earleir (BST). I can assure you, however, if I made an honest mistake like that ,and I hope I dont., if someone comes at me like that there will be a very enjoyable thread to read.

Ignorance can be fixed, Stoopid is forever.

Thanks again folks. I am learning more here in days than I have elsewhere in over a year.
