My 2 purchases from Denver, Conder and '22 Dime.

I don't know a thing about this Conder other than my boy thought it was neat so I bought it for him for 32.00.

Dick O had a nifty little trinket on hold for me for the past month or more while he was off fishing somewhere. He brought it to the show and I bought it. I sold another coin prior to paying him and asked that dealer to just make the check out to Dick O. LOL
My pictures do this coin little justice. It is the sister to the coin I purchased from Barry. They are both super nice coins. Here are 2 shots of the newest one though.

The token from Middlesex and is included as part of the political and social series. Not a lot is known about it but it is believed to have been issued by The Buck Society. The only reference I have on The Buck Society refers me to London Magazine October 1786. I don't happen to have that issue. image

Your token is listed as Dalton & Hamer 1041. D&H 1041 comes with seven different edge varieties
    1041 PAYABLE IN LONDON <<<<<<<
    1041a PAYABLE IN LONDON >>>>>>>
    1041b PAYABLE IN LONDON .x.x.x.x.x.
    1041c PAYABLE AT GOLDSMITHS
1041d PAYABLE BY HORTON AND COMPANY
    1041e milled edge
    1041f plain edge

    1041 and 1041e are common
    1041a and b are rare
    1041f is very rare
1041c and d are extremely rare

Assuming you have one of the common ones, you paid about the right price. Maybe just a little high. But the planchet clip might have been the reason for the slightly higher price.

    Thanks for the info Conder....

It's the "E" one with the milled edge.

It's from the Dr. Richard Doty collection if that means anything also.

You know Dick has two more for sale, I think a VG-10 and XF. They would make a nice couple of additions to your roll.

    I viewed them.

If you are going to hoard a dime, the 1822 seems to me to be a good one to hoard. Congrats on your latest addition!

Oh it does! You probably bought it from Bill McKivor and it was part of Dr Doty's reference collection. If you don't know who Dr Doty is. . .Dr Richard Doty Curator

And he has written a lot more than what is listed there.

    Interesting.

I don't recall the guy's name but he had 5 cases full of conders, medals, and so-called dollars. A very friendly older guy.
