Does anyone have a clue how NCS specifically treats different types of problem coins?

If this has been posted before, could someone link me up? And if not, I'm dying to know--even guesses would be good.
Carbon spots, PVC, etc. What kind of secret sauces do you suppose they use?

The chemicals and processes they use are propriatary so they won't be sharing their secrets,

Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

While they use the same dips, MS70, acetone, etc that most dealers and collectors use, I've been told they use other chemicals and processes that aren't widely known within the industry. For example, I've never been able to remove dark copper spots from gold using coin dips but, if you can believe their ads in Coin World (before and after pics), they can totally remove copper spots from gold.

Here, for the first and only time, is the magic restorative:

Eye of newt, toe of frog, salamander spit and Red Sea fog,
Black cat circle thrice around, bringing gold back to its ground.
Spot beware, spot be gone, now the deer no longer fawn,
Rub not, scrub not cuprum sic; argentum, aurum, platina hic.

Place the coin at the exact center of a pentagram. At each point place one of the five key elements mentioned in the magical text. Pick up the black cat and circle clockwise while all chant the incantation.

If defects remain, it means you did not perform the ritual correctly and must start over.

Sorry - the incantation will not restore dates to Buffalo nickels or Standing Liberty quarters.
  • RWB,

Who would have known that you are also a poet? Perhaps you might consider gracing your next volume with similar verse!image Will your process leave hairlines?

Ferric chloride for the nickels and nitric acid for the quarters.

The incantation will leave hairlines – actually fe-lines – if you get the cat too close.

For those who haven't noticed, the two Renaissance books are actually written as alternating sonnets (Italian Petrarchan) and open Villanelles (19 lines plus a double couplet) with the overall form comparable to the romantic musical sonata with coda. The second letter of each seventeenth word forms an anagram which gives the solution to hyperspace transformation.

get a copy of "Coin Preservation Handbook" by Charles Frank (Coingard Industries,1964)

there are many recipes included - different stuff for removing different things

I am speculating that NCS does things similar to what is mentioned in that book
