and the coin bid was set at 15.00 for a 1922 and 1926 which loked to be a MS64 at best. I thought I got a good deal at 14.00 for the lot until I called to pay for shipping and it was a flat rate of 10.00. Did I miss something or was thier a place to locate these high shipping cost before you bid? I could not find them anywhere so I bid making sure I was under around 3 to 4.00 less for shipping. Now I paid way to much! Is thier a place where I can find these shipping rates before I bid?

I'm not familiar with Proxbid, but the general rule in auctions is that if shipping rates aren't shown in the auction it would be a good idea to contact the seller and find out what the rate is BEFORE you bid. You should also confirm return priviledges as well. If you bid without doing that and win you have left yourself open for any postage rate he chooses to state.

Yes I let myself open. sat in on the auction during the last few minutes then I tought I would bid a safe amount then look for shipping rates after the fact. When they sent me the bill I almost fell over. Still could not find them anywhere. I also tried calling them during the auction but no one would answer. Maybe cause it was Sunday?

You must ask the seller what the shipping cost will be if it's not stated, and don't assume anything. Too many sellers make their money on shipping to keep their own costs low.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

when you sign up to register for the individual auction, you have to read all the terms as each house has different terms - I do remember one that has a $10 shipping flat rate, they all have different internet buyers fees also but most are in the 15-20% range. You also need to see if they charge sales tax for everyone or just in their state.

I won 4 lots on Christy's of Indiana's on Saturday and can't wait to get themimage

I have yet to read any on there that allow returns - highest bidder wins

You also need to check pictures to make sure the listing is correct as occasionally these sellers have no idea on coins and a mintmark not mentioned could mean lots
