I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
I say it's an 8 or 7. I think the corner is fine. Kind of like the "mashed" corners from the Donruss Rookies sets, I don't think PSA will knock it down too much. The little chunk taken out of the border could be justified as part of the rough cut. But if the rest of the card is clean, I don't think it detracts.
Don't just ask for a "better scan", ask for: 1 scan of the card slid to the left in the holder, 1 scan of the card slid to the right, top, bottom.. etc.
The one's I have are all from bulk vending and are rock solid. 2 years ago, I was getting all 8's and 9's..they put the Marichal to shame..
Lately...no 9's and a mix of 7's and 8's....it's not worth it at that point. The last batch I sent (10 cards) were all centered no worse than 55-45...all solid..sharp corners....maybe a hint of white here or there...MAYBE... All came back as 8's....I have some 9's that were already graded that aren't as nice..
Depends on the day and the grader...
I just don't have the time or energy to keep resubmitting...
I'm pretty shocked that card received an 8. Without a doubt the worst 8 seen to date. Most 7's I have come across are far better.
In all honesty, I dont blame the seller on this one. Graded cards are graded cards. If sellers start accepting refunds for difference of grade opinions between buyer and 3rd party grading it would open up a pandoras box of trouble.

I don't see what the problem is. The card looks very fairly graded to me.
We should keep in mind it's nearly IMPOSSIBLE to judge the condition of a card via a scan or a picture.
I wouldn't be too worried about being "stuck" with the card. Because of how liquid PSA cards are, if you put that card up for auction and leave out a picture (just say your scanner is broken), you'll probably make your money back and then some.

If you slide the card to the left a bit, like so, it doesn't look so bad...
No evidence of tampering, so the slab is legit.
I could understand a grader missing a wrinkle, or a tiny crease, but this?

All caps, I guess he wanted to make a point. That point being "sux to be U"
So, if I send this thing in to PSA for a review, and they agree that it's a lower grade, do they pay SMR or something? What's the deal with that?
