looks like the 'Coin Vault' scumbags are still on the air!

I read in this month's COINage magazine that the recent Scott Travers/John Albenese project to "out" the coin shysters, had some success. I understand that after this project aired on 'Inside Edition', the Shop-At-Home network shut down their show the 'Coin Vault' in light of blatant consumer fraud. I noticed tonight that it is back on the air, and this segment airing tonight is 6 hours long! Looks like the Shop-At-Home network realized these scumbag coin shysters were bringing in too much money to permanantly shut them down; sad really

while I agree with you about being entertaining, this is serious business to newbies. They have no problem conning newbies and old ladies out of their money; that is the thing that burns me up.

The entire Shop at Home network was shut down by owner E.W. Scripps Co (of newspaper fame), and a portion of it was purchased by Jewelry Television.

It may not be a lie, but the whole 'official grading service of the PNG and ANA' is nothing more than a purchased nameplate and IMO means less than nothing.

Are they the reason the mint upped the proof buffalo maximum order to 5,000?

  • If I could make that kind of return on coins, I'd be doing the same thing.

They never stopped airing those shows from what I can tell. I remember seeing a bunch of shows that were their final show, then they were back on the aire the following week!

It continues to amaze me how us "collectors" want to so much "protect" the poor innocent newbees out there. Folks, it just can't be done. We all do what we think is best for us. Most of us collectors have been ripped off sometime by paying more than the going rate on coins. I've overpaid on other items also and have used the word "convienence" as an excuse. Bottom line is that the Coin Vault is great entertainment for most of us. Just enjoy the show and realize how smart you are NOT to buy from them. JMHO. Steveimage
